CST Member Benefits The Confederation of School Trusts (CST) is the national organisation and sector body for school trusts in England advocating for, connecting and supporting executive and governance leaders. • We will stand up for your Trust and influence policy on your behalf. • We will connect you to ministers, regulators and influential policy makers, and to each other. • We will support you with what you need to know. 2
Newsletter Regular updates direct to your inbox - an essential briefing for executive and governance leaders, keeping you up to date and informed. Helpdesk The CST office runs a helpdesk for your queries about all matters relating to school trusts. We may refer you to one of our platinum partners for free specialist advice if your query is technical in nature. We aim to respond to your query within 48 hours. For more urgent queries, we will aim to respond within 24 hours. 3
Guidance and Improvement Hub A comprehensive suite of guidance documents specifically for school trusts, including frameworks for leading improvement across your group of schools, finance and use of resources through our interactive strategic planning tool, governance and board evaluation, operational performance and self-evaluation, risk and workforce. Policy Portal Stone King LLP, our platinum partner, provides dedicated access for CST members to a policy portal containing model Trust policies. Governance Advisory Service A quality-assured and confidential service run by specialists in school trusts’ governance. 4
Professional Development An offer developed with a small number of highly specialist partners, specifically designed for executive and governance leaders, including a free Governance Leader programme under licence to the DfE worth £2,000 if you govern a trust of two schools or more. Networks Support to convene networks (where needed) and the aggregation of insights up from local or regional networks into national policy. From the Special School Trust/ Special Education Network through to the Governance Professionals’ Network, our varied networks provide a framework and voice for key interests of school trusts. 5
Annual Conference The ONLY conference directly relevant to both executive and governance leaders of school trusts. Delegate rates are kept as low as possible, as CST views the conference as a member benefit. Trust – our digital journal Trust is the digital journal for executive and governance leaders. It is produced collaboratively by CST and its subsidiary National Teacher Accreditation (NTA). The journal is published twice termly and is designed to inform and stimulate thought and discussion and to share opinions about emerging policy and practice. As a member of CST, you will receive our journal directly to your inbox. 6
National Teacher Accreditation (NTA) NTA is a wholly owned subsidiary of CST. Formerly NIPT, it was originally set up in 2013 at the request of the DfE, to provide a sector-led alternative to Local Authority NQT accreditation services. It is now the largest national Appropriate Body providing its primarily online service to schools and trusts of all types and phases, including a number of international schools and a growing number of school trusts. 7
