DANDO TERRIER SITE INVESTIGATION SYSTEM
The DANDO TERRIER Sampling and geotechnical Rig
has been designed specifically for sampling and testing
for geotechnical and environmental analysis.
Crawler-mounted for easy site access in the most
arduous conditions. Simple to operate and maintain,
extremely reliable and competitively priced.

DESIGN FEATURES OF THE TERRIER RANGE
Compact manoeuvrable crawler-mounted
design ideally suited for long wheel-base
transit type vans for fast mobilisation to site
and secure storage of all equipment.
2-Piece drop hammer for sampling and
testing incorporated in mast assembly with
hydraulic cylinder giving 7000 kgs pull-back
for recovery of casing and sampling tools.
Mast assembly can be detached for remote
operation in restricted access locations.
Hydraulic tilting undercarriage allows operation
on inclined slopes up to 30 degrees from
horizontal. Deck area with storage capacity for
all required drilling tools.
Concrete coring head, useful when concrete
and tarmac overlie the area to be sampled.
Range of windowless sample tubes
with plastic liners ensuring high quality
samples, good presentation and ease of
handling and transportation.
TERRIER ROTARY ATTACHMENT
Optional rotary head converts the
Terrier into a powerful yet ultra-
compact multi purpose rotary drill-rig.
With the powerful two-speed hydraulic rotary
head, the Terrier is capable of a wide range of
rotary drilling techniques including:
o Augering
o Tricone Roller Rock Bits
o Down-T
The-H
Hole Hammering
o Diamond Core Drilling
The 7:1 ratio integral gear unit allows the
head to operate in two ranges:
High-SSpeed, Low - Torque or
Low-SSpeed, High - Torque.

Main Structure
Fabricated box section sub-frame incorporating drop hammer
support, controls, engine mounting and tool storage.
Drop Hammer
Two-piece Drop Hammer runs on two guide bars.The weight
is fully guarded and can be quickly changed for either SPT or
Dynamic Probing standards.
Trip Hammer Speed: 0-50 blows per minute
Trip Hammer Drop: 500mm - 750mm

Drill Mast Assembly
Fabricated welded steel box section construction, hinge pin
mounted to main superstructure, hydraulically raised and
lowered.
Overall height: 2.4m - 2.85m
Pull down capacity: 1000 kgs
Pull back capacity: 7000 kgs
Width: 600mm (including wheels)
The whole mast assembly with wheels can be detached from
the main superstructure for operation remotely in restricted
access locations.
Hydraulic Power Pack
Hydraulic system powered by 16HP water-cooled diesel
engine provides power for drilling, rigging and tracking
services.
Flow for PTO: 30 1/min
Max. working pressure: 175 bar
Carrier
Purpose built crawler chassis with rubber tracks fitted with
tilt mechanism to allow rig to operate vertically on slopes
inclined up to 30Þ from horizontal.

Dando Terrier Rotary
General Specifications
The Dando Terrier can be easily converted on site into a
compact multi-ppurpose rotary drill by replacing the Drop
Weight Mast Assembly with a Rotary Head Mast Assembly.
HYDRAULIC ROTARY DRILLING MAST AND HEAD
Driven by hydraulic motor fitted with a 7 : 1 ratio gearbox
with manual gear change providing full controlled power and
rotational speeds in forward or reverse with integral side
inlet water swivel with BW Rod connection fitted to
travelling carriage plate with bolts

a pair of rubber wheels and two levelling jacks. Hydraulically
raised and lowered by single double acting ram on the main
Terrier undercarriage and attached when required to main

Provided by single double acting ram transmitting adjustable
hydraulic load to the rotary.

CONTROLS AND HYDRAULIC POWER
Hydraulic functions of hoist/feed and rotation are controlled
from main hydraulic control valve on the Terrier and
hydraulic power is supplied via PTO from the main Terrier
hydraulic power pack.
