Wednesday, April 19 6:30am Cyndi Panter CATECHISM REFLECTION 8:00am † Albert M. Rom by Krisit Rom Hamlin Some modern scholars claim that the 6:00pm † Peter J. Smith by Gerry Masley Resurrection was not a historical fact but Thursday, April 20 6:30am † Josephine Cyzowski by Gerry Masley symbolic of an inner mystical experience. 8:00am Souls in Purgatory Catholics believe "Christ's resurrection is a real Friday, April 21 event, with manifestations that were 6:30am † Sylvia Klages by Louise Blaha historically verified" (CCC 639). For instance, 8:00am Anna Stella Tondo by the Duhamel Family "The faith of the first community of believers is Saturday, April 22 based on the witness of concrete men known to 8:00am † Reid Kress by the Romanoski Family 5:30pm Living & Deceased Members of K of C the Christians" (CCC 642): the Twelve Apostles Sunday, April 23 plus at least five hundred other witnesses; 8:00am † Bill Olka by the Hood Family however, "The shock provoked by the Passion 10:30am † Betty Maestas by Michelle & Rich Giannelli was so great that at least some of the disciples 2:00pm La Familia Valdez 6:00pm Pro Populo did not at once believe the news of the Resurrection" (CCC 643). Rather than being † Denotes Deceased Person consumed by mystical fervor, the Gospels describe a community demoralized, scared and filled with doubt. Thus, belief in the Resurrection was not born of the Apostles' faith, but their faith was born of a real encounter with the Resurrection.
Celebrating 22 years of Solemn Eucharistic Adoration this Divine Mercy Sunday Hoy estamos celebrando 22 años de Adoración Eucarística Solemne en nuestra parroquia
WE’VE MISSED YOU! Do you or someone you know long to come “home” to the Catholic Church? Do you feel like you are not welcome to come back? Do you have questions about possible issues with returning to church? If you are a Catholic who has been away from the church for any reason, please know that we have been praying for and thinking about you! We invite you to explore becoming an active part of our church family through the Landings Program. LANDINGS is an eight-week program that offers “a safe place to land,” a place for listening and for being heard, a place for asking questions and for reconnecting with the faith as an adult. If you are interested in more information, please contact Barb McFalls at 865-202-3883 (text or call) or barbmcfalls@yahoo.com The St. Paul Street Evangelization Ministry invites you to join our next Zoom series which will feature Jeff Cavins discussing- “The Letter of James.” Jeff Cavins is a well-known American Catholic evangelist, author, and biblical scholar. He was a Protestant pastor before his return to the Catholic Church. He is the creator of The Great Adventure Bible Study program, and was the founding host of the Television Show "Life on the Rock" on EWTN. The Letter of James is to the New Testament what Proverbs is to the Old Testament. James led the Jerusalem church for more than a decade prior to his martyrdom in AD 62. He was an eyewitness of the Resurrection. He presided over the Council of Jerusalem and was acknowledged by Paul as a pillar of the community. His standing as “a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ” is the basis of his authority to address the churches. James was not only a leader, he was also a man of wisdom who taught the wisdom of the kingdom of God is a style reminiscent of Jesus himself. An outline of the material will be provided for each presentation. The weekly presentations, which will be on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m., (with a repeat on the following Tuesdays), are listed below: Schedule: Session 8. James 4:11-5:6: A Wise Perspective for Living April 20th (repeat April 25th) Session 9. James 5:7-12: The Wisdom of Patience April 27th (repeat May 2nd) Session 10. James 5:13-20: The Wisdom of Confession and May 4th (repeat May 9th) Prayer If you are not yet on our mailing list and would like to take part in these Zoom presentations send an email to John Platfoot (john.platfoot@gmail.com), Pete Cunningham (cunningp@comcast.net) or Deacon Gary (deacon1@stmarysoakridge.org) and we will send you the link.
