The movie is a sequel to Vaske’s “Why Are We Creative”, but while the first film them Academy Award® and Nobel Prize winners, from the fields of visual art,
concentrates on the promoters and sponsors of creativity, this new film unveils the music, acting, philosophy, politics, business and science, posing the question:
true killers of creativity. It’s an exploration of the toxic circumstances that act as “Why are you creative?”
beta blockers to ideas in all the various creative disciplines.
Vaske’s subjects include: David Bowie, Ai Weiwei, Björk, Wim Wenders, Philippe
The movie will follow director Hermann Vaske and his sidekick Michael Madsen on Stark, Yoko Ono, John Hegarty, David Lynch, Yohji Yamamoto, Damien Hirst,
their mission to unmask and identify the idea killers. Together they analyze what Angelina Jolie, Nobuyoshi Araki, Quentin Tarantino, Bono, Nick Cave, Neo
screws up creativity in order to identify the villains, from self-censorship to anxiety, Rauch, Stephen Hawking, the Dalai Lama, Peter Ustinov, Marina Abramovic,
from distraction to bureaucracy. The assassins of creativity are many and they are Diane Kruger, Julian Schnabel, John Cleese, Jimmy Page, Vivienne Westwood,
lurking everywhere. And oddly, our reasons for not being creative are often very Takeshi Kitano and many others.
              creative indeed…
The answers Vaske received are as varied and intriguing as his respondents. WHY
As Vaske says: “In an age of uncertainty, where only creativity can help to solve ARE WE CREATIVE? is a vibrant celebration of what makes us most human, most
the problems of the world, simply encouraging creativity is not enough. Only when fulfilled.
we know where the enemy stands will we be able to avoid the beta blockers of
creativity.” PRODUCERS Hermann Vaske / Emotional Network Production, Charles V. Bender
