Weekend Edition Informs, Relaxes
For most of us, weekends are a time for rest, relaxation, a chance to catch up on
chores, and reconnect with family and friends. But there is no rest for big news on
Saturday and Sunday. 89.7 NPR News and Weekend Edition are there to help balance
our thirst for information with our desire to relax. Each week Weekend Edition
(Saturday, Sunday, 8am – 11am) delivers the latest on our community and world.

Take the stories that broke over weekends the last few months. Attorney General William
Barr released his four-page summary of the Mueller Report. Terrorists attacked churches and hotels in Sri Lanka, killing scores
of people. Palestinians launched rockets into Israel, prompting retaliatory air strikes. Weekend Edition covered it all. Saturday
host Scott Simon and Sunday host Lulu Garcia-Navarro spoke with correspondents on the scene to get the latest developments,
and then turned to trusted analysts to help us understand the stories’ complexities.

Weekend Edition also appreciates Saturday and Sunday morning listeners need a break. While delivering trusted news coverage,
Weekend Edition offers a more relaxed approach. It features interviews with artists, writers and musicians. Scott Simon gives us
the weekly Saturday sports wrap-up. Lulu Garcia-Navarro helps us solve the Sunday Puzzle with New York Times Puzzlemaster
Will Shortz. Both hosts are just as comfortable interviewing world leaders as they are talking with pop music stars.

News is a seven-day-a-week business. Don’t miss a thing. Listen to Weekend Edition Saturday and Sundays from 8am to 11am.

Donate Your Used Instruments to Replay!
Supporting music education is an important mission for Classical 101 and WOSU
Public Media. Studies have shown that children who participate in music programs
perform better, both academically and socially. WOSU's Replay! helps offset the
difficulties music educators have in finding adequate resources for their programs.

At Classical 101, we believe that everyone's life is enhanced by music, and learning to play an instrument is particularly enriching
for young children. Join WOSU Public Media for our third year of Replay! by donating your used musical instruments to local
     schools.

There are tons of talented young people in Columbus, but not all of them have access to a musical instrument. So, if you have
one lying around your house and nobody’s using it, help us get it into the hands of an aspiring musician. We’ll be collecting July
8-13 at the WOSU Public Media offices and at CD 102.5.

We know that emotional attachments to our beloved instruments are strong, but how exciting to think that your old violin or
clarinet could get a second life! Last year we collected more than 200 instruments, and within a matter of weeks they had been
refurbished and were on the field for marching band season. Musical instruments were meant to be played! So round up any
instruments gathering dust in your house and donate them during Classical 101’s Replay! Instrument Drive, July 8-13.

     Learn more about how to donate at wosu.org/replay. And if you don’t have an instrument to donate, help us spread the word;
there’s a printable flyer you can post at your local coffee shop, bookstore, church or any neighborhood gathering spot.
