the history of field of dentistry of state of

for, it was on this very auspicious day of birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Late Baba-Saheb Ambedkar the Institute took

it’s inception as a mark of memory and tribute to the great soul, who dedicated his life for the welfare & upliftment of poor

and down trodden of the society. The institute being the first of it’s kind in the north-east   region of the country, imparting

vocational training in field of Dentistry under the banner of Late Baba - Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the great humanist, the

pioneer of Indian freedom and the architect of modern India.

                           The Institute is being Managed by Gautam Educational & Welfare Society, a Buddhist Minority

Society registered under Society Registration Act 21,1860 as well as by Governing Council, Represented by galaxy of

educationists and dedicated persons of social and religious fields.

                           The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) Course run by the institute is Recognized by Ministry

of Health Medical Education & Family Welfare Govt. of India, New Delhi and Recognized by Dental Council of India,

New Delhi and the same has been notified in Gazette of India. Vide No. V-12018/3/99-PMS Dated 15th April 2000.

                           Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi has granted permission for

admission in Master of Dental Surgery (M.D.S.) Course in the following specialities :

        (a)       Prosthodontics & Crown and Bridge (3 Seats)

        (b)       Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics (2 Seats)

        (c)       Periodontology (2 Seats)

        (d)       Oral Medicine & Radiology (2 Seats)

                           For academic session 2020-21, no permission for renewal of admission has been granted in the

above mentioned M.D.S. specialities.

                          The Institute is permanently affiliated to Magadh University, Bodh Gaya (Bihar).

Location & Facilities

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, is in the out skirts (West) of Patna on the Bailey Road, about 10

km from Patna Junction and about 4 km from Patna Air Port, in a peaceful atmosphere. The institute is running in three huge

buildings having separate Administrative & Academic Block, Dental Hospital & 100 bedded General (Medical) Hospital with

well equipped laboratories, and library with internet facilities, latest books, journals and periodicals. The laboratories are

supplied with own water and gas facilities. The hospital of institute is accorded with sufficient Dental Chairs, Dental Units in

all Departments, Dental X-rays Unit, Digital OPG, RVG and other sophisticated instruments like air rotors / micro motors,

Ultrasonic Scalars and light curing units. The college is having its own mobile dental clinic with all facilities for the treatment

of patient in the rural and distant areas. The dental OPD hospital of the institute was inaugurated and dedicated to the

services of general public on 1st August 1991 by Late Hari Narayan Rai, Founder President of Gautam Educational &

Welfare Society. For the convenience of students and guardians, the nearest railway stations is Patna Junction, where all

kinds of transport namely three wheeler, mini bus facilities are available.

Teaching Programme

                                                Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.): The Bachelor of Dental Surgery at

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital is conducted by the regulation of Magadh University, and is in the

accordance with the regulations for B.D.S. Course framed by the Dental Council of India and approved by the Ministry of

Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi, under the Revised B.D.S. Course Regulation 2007. The course is of four

years duration and one year compulsory rotatory internship.

                                                Master of Dental Surgery (M.D.S.): The Master of Dental Surgery at Dr.

B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital is conducted by the regulation of Dental Council of India, New Delhi,

and is in the accordance with the regulations for M.D.S. Course framed by the Dental Council of India and approved by the

Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi, under the Revised M.D.S. Course Regulation 2007. The

course is of three years duration.

Library Facilities

                  The institute has been provided with good library with sufficient number of books, latest journals & up-to-
date periodicals. Students are advised to make full us of the same. Internet and E-Journal facilities are also available in the
library with sufficient numbers of computer.
Hostel Facilities
                  Separate hostel accommodation are available for UG and PG boys and girls.
                  All these hostels are having separate establishment including mess facilities, entertainment and indoor
game facilities. Hostels are guarded with round ‘O’ Clock security arrangement. Students can also avail the facility of AC
Room on demand.

Hostel fees are as follows:
        For B.D.S. and M.D.S. students :          Rs. 7,000/- per month including boarding and lodging for Non-A.C. Room.
                                                  Rs. 10,000/- per month including boarding and lodging for A.C. Room.

Eligibility for B.D.S. Admission
(a)     The candidates must have been selected by the CBSE on the basis of NEET-2020.
(b)     The candidate should have passed Intermediate Science (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry,
        Biology & English from any recognized University / Board and have secured a minimum 50% marks in aggregate of
        the above subjects. For Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Backward candidates minimum marks required is 40%.
(c)     The candidate should be medically fit.
(d)     The candidate must have attained 17 years of age on 31st December of the year of his / her admission to first B.D.S.
        Course.
(e)     Method of Selection: The selection of candidates for admission shall be made on the basis of rank secured
        in the merit list published by CBSE based on NEET-2020 as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of
        Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi in the light of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India judgement.

Admission Selection Process

Original documents to be submitted at the time of admission

(a)    10+2 Marks sheet.

(b)    Date of Birth Certificate (Class X certificate).

(c)    Transfer / College leaving certificate from the college where studied last.

(d)    Medical Certificate of fitness by Competent Medical Officer.

(e)    Two recent passport size photographs.

(f)    Migration Certificate from the University / Board where candidate studied last. (Not applicable for the Magadh

       University students).

Course Fee

       For B.D.S., Course Fee shall be Rs. 4, 50,000/- (four lakhs fifty thousands) per annum only, for four

consecutive years. This fee is provisional, final course fee is subject to fixation of fee by competent authority of State

Government as per the guidelines of Hon’ble Supreme Court.

       Payment of course fee to be made by Bank Draft infavour of “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Dental Sciences &

Hospital” Payable at Patna.

       The fee structure prescribed above is for session 2020-21 & shall be revised from B.D.S. 3rd Year (session 2022-23)

with an enhancement of 20% applicable up to B.D.S. Final Year (session 2023-24).

Application for B.D.S. Admission

        The candidate must submit the True copy / Xerox copy of following documents along with the application form.
        (a)       10+2 Marks sheet.
        (b)       Date of Birth Certificate (Class X certificate).
        (c)       Transfer / College leaving certificate from the college where studied last.
        (d)       Medical Certificate of fitness by Competent Medical Officer.
        (e)       Three recent passport size photographs.

        The duly completed and filled up application form must be submitted in the office of Principal of the college.

Application for M.D.S. Admission

        Application for admission in M.D.S. Course shall be completed as per NEET guidelines from next academic session.
The selection for admission shall be strictly on the basis of merit list prepared on the basis of NEET as notified by the Central
and State Govt.

Course Fee

        For M.D.S., Course Fee shall be Rs. 6,00,000/- (six lakhs) per annum only, for three consecutive years.

Eligibility for M.D.S. Admission

(a)     The candidate should have passed B.D.S. examination from any recognized dental college and have also completed
        one year compulsory rotatory internship.
(b)     The candidate should be medically fit.

Admission Selection Process

        The selection for admission in MDS Course shall be completed strictly on the basis of the NEET Result published by
CBSE.

Refund / Deposit of Fees
        The fees and other charges paid at the time of admission or during the courses in B.D.S., M.D.S., Dental Mechanic
and Dental Hygienist are not refundable. However, the students once admitted shall be liable to pay the course fee of whole
course, even in the event of his/her leaving institution, for his / her own reason, causing vacancy of seats, once allotted to
him / her by Admission Counseling Committee.
Striking Off Roll
        The name of the students may be struck off the rolls on account of the following reasons:
        (a)     Continued absence without obtaining leave for fifteen consecutive days.
        (b)     Irregular attendance and poor progress in studies.
        (c)     If ordered to be expelled or restricted from the institute.
        (d)     Non-payment of tution fee and other dues for 30 days after the last day of payment fixed by the college.
Conduct & Discipline
        (1)     The students admitted to institute will be under the complete disciplinary |control of the administration of the

                                                                                   accordance with disciplinary rules of the
                                                                                   institute as framed & notified by the
                                                                                   management / principal from time to time.
                                                                                   (2)      Students should be regular and
                                                                                   punctual in attending classes. Those who
                                                                                   fails to secure 75% of attendance at the end
                                                                                   of academic year in each subject (Theory
                                                                                   and Practical separately) will not be allowed
                                                                                   to    appear    in    the   university   annual
                                                                                   examinations.
                                                                                   (3)      Marks awarded in internal assess-
                                                                                   ment for theory will be based on the marks
                                                                                   secured by the students in four written tests
                held by the institute in each academic year. Where as for practical and clinical classes the same will be
                awarded on day to day work. Those, who fail to get through in internal assessment test, conducted by the
                institute will not be allowed to appear in the university examination.
        (4)     Students must come to class / laboratories / hospital with aprons and uniform or prescribe pattern.
        (5)     Smoking, drinking (alcohol) and use of drugs are strictly prohibited in the premises of institute, hospital and
                hostels.
        (6)     Institute identity card must be carried on by the student while attending classes and hospitals.
        (7)     Ragging of students goes against the discipline of the institute. The students involved, will have to
                face expulsion from the institute as well as criminal proceedings may also be started against the
                involved students as per the existing anti-ragging law framed and formulated by the Govt. of India as
                per the guidelines of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
        (8)     The students found guilty for damage of the properties of institute may lead to instant expulsion from the
                institute and shall be liable for the recovery of the cost of damaged property along with fine imposed on him /
                her.
        (9)     The students are expected to read notices put on the notice boards of the institute, and institute shall not
                accept any responsibility for loss due to students failure to read the notice in time.
        (10)    No students shall be allowed to appear for the University examination unless he / she has paid all dues and
                completed practical and clinical work assigned to them.
        (11)    The management reserves the right to change any rule and provisions given in this prospectus in
                the interest of the institute.
Students Amenities

        Games and Sport: Facilities for both indoor as well as out door games are available in the institute, Common rooms

of the institute is accorded with the basis needs for the entertainment of students.

        College Bus Facilities: The institute is having it’s own bus for the transportation of students as and when required.

For girl students, this facilities has been made essential.

        Railways Concession: The institute is providing railway concession / during vacations of the students as per the

relevant rules of Deptt. of Railways. Students interested for concession by Air ways will be also issued necessary certificate

to get the same.

        Education: Education Tour will be conducted for students in different regions of India in vacation.

Legal Jurisdiction

        Legal dispute arising if any subject to Patna Court Jurisdiction only.
