battle at times. Blue Skies of Texas wants you to know you are not alone. There are
other Blue Skies residents going through the same fight. Please join us at the
Alzheimer’s Association sponsored support group that meets every third
Wednesday of the month at Freedom House. Come and share your experiences

SELECT REHABILITION NEWS By Director of Rehab, Scott Jones
Joint Replacement Surgery - When joint damage, due to
arthritis or an injury, limits your daily activities and causes
severe pain, joint replacement surgery may be an option to
consider. Joint replacement surgery consists of removing a damaged joint and
putting in a new one. What can you expect after the surgery? The average hospital
stay is typically two to three days after surgery, then discharged to either a skilled
nursing facility for more intense inpatient care or home. Your rehab therapists can
assist you before and after surgery. Before surgery therapists are trained to help
you prepare for surgery by strengthening the muscles around the joint to be
replaced and maintaining the range of motion in the joint. After joint replacement
surgery, you may experience surgical pain which will lessen each day as you
continue to move the joint. The rehab team will help you increase range of motion,
increase strength and control pain and swelling in the replaced joint. For more
information about how the therapy department may improve your health and
wellness, contact Scott Jones at 568-3415.
