Programme SupportersCONFERENCE PROGRAMME Although ‘factory-made’ homes are being advocated by national and Mayoral policy as one of the key solutions to housing demand, factory- made housing still accounts for a very small proportion of the homes built in London each year. A key message from the NLA research is that, while recent developments indicate we may be on the cusp of a step change, a new ‘modular mindset’ is still needed to overcome perceived barriers that remain around the take-up of factory- made housing in London. So, what are the barriers to London adopting a truly ‘modular mindset’? How might we make the most of these construction processes to deliver homes at speed and scale? This conference provides an important focused opportunity to discuss and debate how we might revolutionise attitudes, processes and delivery to achieve better-quality housing using a manufacturing-led approach. The NLA research looking at factory- made housing has informed an exhibition and publication launched on Tuesday 09 October. The exhibition will remain open to the public in the NLA galleries until January 2019 and during this time events will take place to bring together those working within factory-made housing. 2 NLA Half-day Conference
