ZELTENREICH REFORMED CHURCH Lord’s Day February 20, 2022; 10:30 am (Those who enter for worship are asked to join others in quietly preparing to worship the Lord.) God’s Call to Worship Prelude Welcome & Announcements Silent Prayer of Preparation Votum and Salutation † Song of Praise † “God Himself Is With Us” TPH 164 Confession of Sin The Law of God: Exodus 20:1-17 (See Insert) Corporate Confession of Sin (Unison Prayer) Dear Lord God, it is as real that we are sinners before you as it is that we have been conceived; our birth, our nature, our thoughts, words, works, and our entire beings are sinful. We are corrupt like the fig tree that bore no fruit and by nature we are children of sin and wrath. As long as this nature remains with us we are sinners and must say: Forgive us our debts. So, we confess our sins as you command, in order that you may be just when you spare the penitent from the judgment facing those who do not repent. Lord, we are evil-doers and sinners against your divine commandment. Help us, for we are helpless. Amen. Sermon Notes From Flight to Might I Kings 19:1-18
Insert Reading of the Law: Exodus 20:1-17 - The Ten Commandments Minister: 1 And God spoke all these words, saying: 2 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Congregation: 3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. Minister: 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. Congregation: 7 “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain. Minister: 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. Congregation: 12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you. Minister: 13 “You shall not murder. Congregation: 14 “You shall not commit adultery. Minister: 15 “You shall not steal. Congregation: 16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. Minister: 17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”
Announcements from Council ➢ The 3x5 cards in pews can be used to communicate your prayer requests to the church. ➢ We received Barbara Fluck's membership from Heritage Reformed Church, near Scranton, PA. She resides in a care facility northwest of Philadelphia. ➢ Indy continues to hold membership classes and prospective officer training. Members will likely be joining our church from their congregation soon. Prospective officers who put their name forward will then be introduced to ZRC's congregation via bios before council interviews and accepts them as elders and/or deacons. Finally, they will be ordained in Indy by Rev. Reifel. At that point, Indy will be able to hold the Lord's Supper without an elder from a neighboring church being present because they will have their own. Their officers will then attend our Consistory and/or council meetings and vote on matters pertaining to their church plant as Rev. Reifel currently does now. One reason ZRC was willing to oversee Indy was the presence of other nearby URC works and the experienced lay officers in the core group and we look forward to the Lord working in and through them. ➢ The Chettys have moved to Wilmington, NC and intend to join an OPC church plant in the area that they researched in advance and visited while preparing for their move. Additionally, today, Kevin and Sherrill Martin will be received as members via transfer and Joel Peña by Profession of Faith.
Update from Stephen and Charity Jones First Hire in India Praises 1. Charity’s burnout and my rickety back seem to be slowly improving. I thought I would include this hilarious picture of Charity having a “just give me a sec” moment after a long day at work. It’s like the pandemic in one photo. 2. Hallelujah, Praise Jehovah that we don’t have to send invoices for all of our clients! Our bookkeeper is a wizard. Prayer 1. We have 80 people signed up for an outreach event tonight (Feb 18) of watching Encanto and eating veg pizza. Please pray for the Lord to draw people to His church. 2. Please pray for us as we are hoping to make our first senior counsellor hire in India in March. As Kairos grows, we are keenly aware that we need more senior Indian counsellors who are fluent in the language and the culture of our virtual clients and international staff. Love from ours, Stephen, Charity and co.
