Allison Langdon
In 2017, Allison Langdon became an Ambassador for Gidget Foundation Australia.
She is a reporter for 60 Minutes and co-host of The Weekend Today Show, having spent the
past 17 years working as a journalist for the Nine Network.
Langdon started on Nine’s flagship current affairs program 60
Minutes in 2011, and has covered many major international stories.
She interviewed Al-Shabaab terrorists just days before their
execution in Somalia. In 2014 she travelled deep into the Amazon
after the Brazilian Government approved the world’s third largest
hydro dam that would have flooded the homes of thousands of
Kayapo Indians. Langdon’s report formed the basis of a court case
which saw the dam decision overturned. She was also the only
Australian journalist who made it into Cameroon to cover the
plane crash that killed six Australian mining executives.
She wrote the book The Child Who Never Was –The Tegan
Lane Story (released in 2007) after covering the inquest into
the disappearance of the baby born to former water polo
champion, Keli Lane. In December 2010, Lane was convicted of
the baby’s murder. She’s married with a young son.

Tanya Davies is the Member for Mulgoa and the NSW Minister for Women,
Mental Health and Ageing in the Berejiklian government.
In her role as Minister for Women, Tanya represents
around 3.8 million women across NSW. She is committed to
hearing first-hand about the issues that affect them every day
and is passionate about building an equitable, inclusive and
safe society where all women are valued and respected.
An area of particular interest for Tanya is helping women
to support each other, especially in professional settings.
She believes women can be immensely valuable to each other by
standing together to develop strong support networks
where women can fulfil their potential.
As a mother herself, Tanya is passionate about ensuring all children
across this State grow up in strong, safe and caring communities
where their individual potential flourishes.

Welcome to the 2018 Gidget Foundation Glitter and Sparkle Ladies’ Lunch.
When you thought it wasn’t possible, the Gidget Foundation’s indefatigable committee
has broken new ground! Today’s success is testimony to your wonderful support and the
importance of raising awareness of mental health in pregnancy and for new parents.
As we talk and laugh and talk some more, pause and reflect on the
value of kindness and generosity of spirit. The Gidget Foundation
can raise awareness and provide pathways to care but the power for
change lies with you. Ask a friend how she feels. Offer her a
listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, a comforting embrace. Make the
world a better place through compassion, warmth and love.
At the Ladies’ Lunch we honour mothers and fathers and the
importance of parents. We remember those who are not here, our
loved ones who live in our hearts. We reach out to those for whom
anxiety and depression is a burden and a barrier to happiness. We will
make magic today at the Ladies’ Lunch.
Let’s share that spirit with those we love and, in some small way, make
the journey a little better for those in need.

growth, while ensuring that we maintain Gidget’s kind soul and loving essence in all we do.
As a for purpose organisation, we are committed to providing sustainable prevention and
treatment programs. While we have made an incredible impact in the perinatal mental health
space to date, and already support a number of families, there are still
many more across Australia that need our help.
And it is with your help that we can achieve our mission to not only
drive awareness about perinatal depression and anxiety,
but also to develop, build and drive these programs for both
early intervention and treatment to ensure that vulnerable
parents go on to live happy and fulfilling lives.
As a mother myself, I am passionate about shining a bright
(and sparkly!) light on our cause and creating real change within the
community. Let’s make a commitment to look after our
collective wellbeing, aim for less pressure, manageable expectations
and more happy moments with those that we love.
We must end the silence and stigma. So, let’s do it for our children and

Cape to Cape
Experience the full diversity of the South West in WA with an adventure of a lifetime on a
Cape to Cape end-to-end ultimate experience. Journey over 135km along the spectacular
coastline from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin raising awareness for the power of movement
as a coping strategy for post-natal depression and anxiety. As a team we will hike to fundraise
$50,000 to support the Gidget Foundation’s very important work.
The Cape to Cape experience centres on seven days of hiking over wide and
varied terrain, offering an array of sites and natural processes to wonder at.
The experience is a moderate level hike covering 16-22km each day; sound fitness
is recommended prior to undertaking the journey.
The hike includes stunning and wild coastal landscapes, physical challenge, and awesome
fun with great friends (and no parental responsibilities for the week!).
The dates are Sunday 18 November to Monday 26th November; it’s eight nights but you can
leave earlier should you need to. The hike will finish on the 25th and then later that day there
will be yoga, massages and a send off dinner, flying out the next day.

Gidget Foundation Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that provides
programs to support the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents.
The Gidget Foundation evokes Gidget’s warmth and lively spirit. Established by Gidget’s
friends and sisters, the Foundation has grown and is now supported by passionate individuals,
community leaders and health professionals.
Nearly 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers will experience perinatal depression and anxiety that
is often hidden and not fully understood. It impacts around 100,000 Australians each year, and
suicide is the leading cause of maternal death. Nearly 50% of all
parents experience adjustment disorders.
