                                            GRADUATION CELEBRATION

                             LETTER FROM AN HONORS ALUM

Congratulations!

Yes, you will hear that word quite a bit, but please celebrate it! You are graduating with Honors and you earned it! This
ceremony signifies the final steps of this adventure. You are on to the next. The most exciting thing, even if it also feels
slightly terrifying, is WHICH direction your next steps will lead you. It may be working your way higher on the
educational ladder, maybe it’s a powerful leap into your career or entrepreneurship, or perhaps you are looking to wander
a bit to see what you find and where you go. It can feel bittersweet to move on, but there is so much to look forward to!
You will be out from under FGCU’s wings, soaring far and wide on your own currents! Even after I left the nest, I found
I still keep the elements of Honors close to my heart.

Always continue learning! Education can come in so many forms. These range from travel experiences to books to
watching really old cypress trees. Life has its own set of tests for you, so embrace them as a life-long learner!

Cultures are the spices of life. There are so many cultures to explore and engage with! Each one gives you a little more
flavor of the world. Taste them all! Challenge, grow, and savor your perspectives!

Community gives us roots, adding purpose and connection to our lives. These connections have many threads, both
socially and spiritually. Whether your community is small or large, it surrounds and supports you. By embracing and
engaging with that connection, we reciprocate that support!

Leadership will strengthen your opportunities, both with your career and personal achievements. Lead with good
intentions and purpose. There is responsibility in leadership, but there is also abundance and success! You are worthy of
it!

Put everything together and BAM! Personal transformation!
Life is one big journey and you’re still in the beginning.
Every journey is different, but keeping your mind and your
heart open allows you to experience it to the fullest.

Good luck with your upcoming adventures!

Sincerely,
Cecelia Morales

Transferring to FGCU in 2018 was one of the best decisions I
have ever made! I was able to take classes that helped me realize
what I want to do in the future. I was also able to become a part
of the Honors College, which is not something I thought I would
ever be able to do. Once I graduate from FGCU this summer,
I plan on pursuing my dream of becoming a Pediatric Doctor
of Nursing Practice. I am so grateful for everything FGCU has
helped me accomplish. Go Eagles!!

During my time at FGCU, I was able to connect with professors
and classmates and get involved in opportunities that deepened
my passion for pursuing a career in medicine. I had the
opportunity to conduct computational chemistry research, serve
as the Treasurer of the Pre-Student Osteopathic Medical
Association, and join the Campus Cancer Campaign to help
spread awareness of cancer in our FGCU community.
Throughout my college career, I also worked as a scribe in the
ER and volunteered at the PPEC for Golisano Children’s
Hospital. My future plans include applying to medical school and
working in the medical field after graduation!

with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Throughout my time at
FGCU, I have been involved in Programming Board as a member
of the concert committee, a two time Honors Mentor, and an avid

amazing Honors College students. At FGCU, I have learned the
importance of creating valuable relationships with others, and
that with hard work and dedication I am able to attain all my
goals. I will use this knowledge as I move forward to the next

These past four years at FGCU have been some of the best years
of my life. The emotions leading up to today are indescribable. I
have been fortunate enough to make lasting memories and

College in my second semester here. I earned Dean’s list
recognition multiple times. I completed over 200 service hours.
I am a student athlete and have played for the FGCU hockey
team since my freshman year. I received honors to the South
Region 2nd team for hockey in 2017-2018. I received honors to
the 1st Team All-Conference in the 2018-2019 season. I had the

FGCU! Over the past four years, I have participated in tissue
engineering research that I have presented at multiple FGCU
events and at the Biomedical Engineering Society Conference
that was held in Philadelphia in 2019. I interned at a small
start-up company developing wound care patches and at Arthrex,
working with their manufacturing team and their design teams. I
studied abroad in Italy after my freshman year with fellow
Honors students. I kept busy with the Honors College, acting as a
Mentor my sophomore year and as a Senator my junior and part
of my senior year as well. After graduation, I will be starting my
career as a Medical Device Test Engineer with Arthrex!

Rachel Fishgold
I am incredibly thankful for everyone that has helped me get to
this point in my life including my friends, family, and professors.
My experience as an FGCU student has been an unforgettable
journey that will stay with me beyond graduation. I remember
starting my first day of classes and the first day ‘jitters’ I had like
it was yesterday, but now has been the time I have been waiting
for the longest time- a time that will allow me to enter the world
with confidence and strength. As for the future, I plan to
continue advocating for the elderly population. Being their
‘voice’ for these individuals (especially those with Dementia) is
something that I truly take to heart. My only wish in life for them
is to grant elders to full access to services without any challenges
arising along the way. I hope that this comes true someday.

have worked to leave a lasting impact at FGCU, such as by being
as a tutor for the Hartley Academic Resource Center and
volunteering my time at organizations all across Southwest

time at FGCU, I have held leadership positions in Dance
Marathon and Global Medical Brigades, where I gained
invaluable experience serving communities locally and abroad. In
the Honors College, I had the opportunity to serve as an Honors
Mentor and Mentor Lead, as well as to conduct research in both
the College of Education and the College of Arts & Sciences.
This fall, I will be attending the University of Georgia to pursue
an M.S. in Child Life, after which I plan to become a child life
specialist to serve hospitalized children and families!

Majors: Psychology and Child Youth Studies

I started my time at FGCU after spending a year in Israel
teaching English at a high school for Jewish refugees from
Ethiopia, Brazil, Russia, and France. I originally was interested
in Nursing, but I found that I had a greater love for musing over
philosophy and writing. I became a Writing Consultant at the
Writing Lab/CAA two years ago, where I got to continue tutoring
students. This past year, I was the winner of the 2020 Creative
Non-Fiction writing awards, and my story will be published in
the next year’s Mangrove Review- which I have been working on
for two years as the Assistant Executive Editor for the Art portion
of the book. I plan on working within the college community a
little more before exploring what my future holds.

Major: Integrated Studies
Minor: Philosophy
Concentration: Creative Writing

I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri where I attended Eureka High
School and after moved to Naples, Florida where I started to
attend FGCU studying Computer Information Systems. I have
loved my time at FGCU and will miss it dearly. During my time
here the Honors College provided me with an opportunity to
represent this school at the University of Arizona Ethics Case
Competition. I have also been inducted in to Beta Gamma Sigma
as a top student at the Lutgert College of Business. In the future I
hope to stay in the SWFL area starting my career in IT and
Supply Chain

Major: Computer Information Systems
Minor: Supply Chain Management
