Living here is also very affordable compared to surrounding neighborhoods, which could be why this is consistently rated as the #2 neighborhood for Ross students. West of State Graduate Student Neighborhood, Easy Walk to Class ABOUT WEST OF STATE West of State is mostly known as a graduate student neighborhood. It’s quiet yet close to the bustling downtown area so, it is suitable if one still wants entertainment and dining options. It is also a great location to be if you are a football fan because of the tailgating scene for Michigan games.
