from a childhood of loneliness and cruelty to a life at Thornfield Hall
and an unlikely relationship with the mysterious Mr Rochester.
Falling in love, she gradually uncovers a hidden past to the gloomy,

Kiri Pritchard-McLean
EMPATHY, PAINS

Mon 30 Mar, 8pm
Tickets £13.50, concessions £2 off

Multi award winning comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean (Have I Got
News for You, Live at the Apollo, 8 out of 10 Cats, Frankie Boyle's
New World Order) is back with her fourth full length show. Previous
shows have seen her tackle structural racism, sexism, child
grooming, adoption and emotional abuse so what seemingly
unfunny subject has she picked to turn into laughs this year?
20
Chernobyl? The shrinking size of creme eggs? No, empathy. Which
sounds fine actually but maybe not the way Kiri tackles it.

Kiri thinks that we live in a time where empathy is seen as a
weakness like asthma or being first to pull away from a handshake.
But why is that? Surely what we need in these divided times is more
empathy? So Kiri is off on a search to find a group of people who
she struggles to empathise with, what could this mean.....? Well, it
means she's spent the last year talking to non offending
paedophilles on the internet. Yup, her search history is a disaster.
So, come and see her make the impossible hilarious or possibly get
arrested.

ANDY PARSONS: HEALING THE NATION

Fri 17 Apr, 7.30pm
Tickets £16.50

‘It was 24th June 2016 and I found myself contemplating a
supermarket meal deal. I only wanted a sandwich and I only
needed a sandwich but given that I could get a snack and a drink
for only 5p more it seemed financially irresponsible not to. I had
spent so long pondering the EU Referendum result from the day
before that I was now in a massive rush. The lad on the till scanned
the first two items no problem but the third item he couldn’t get to
scan at all. I thought this is going to be a nightmare – there was a
queue building up and he looked like he was going to call the
supervisor. Then to his credit, he tried to scan it one more time, it
wouldn’t scan – so he went ‘bip’ himself and chucked it through.
And it was at that moment I thought “oh we’ll be alright as a
country we will”. And we will be alright. Trust me. I’m not a
politician.’

As seen on Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, Q.I. etc. - and

It’s been forty-five years since Jinkx Monsoon and Major Scales

them clinging onto what scraps of fame they still have. Now, after
decades of anticipation, the two of them have come together for
one final reunion upon the stage. They’re together again, again!

return to the UK with their most outrageously raucous show yet!

QUALITY STREET
By J.M.Barrie

Tue 2 -Sat 6 Jun, 7.30pm
Matinees: Wed 3 & Sat 6 Jun, 2.30pm

Tickets £26 - £13.50

Phoebe Throssel lives on Quality Street, the bustling hub of a quaint
northern town where she runs a school for unruly children.

36
Ten years since a tearful goodbye, an old flame returns from
fighting Napoleon. But the look of disappointment on Captain
Valentine’s face when he greets a more mature, less glamorous
Phoebe, spurs our determined heroine to action.

She becomes the wild and sparkling Miss Lily, a younger alter-ego
who soon entraps the clueless Captain. As their romance is
rekindled, can she juggle both personas? Or will her deception
scandalise the town and wreck any future with the man she loves?

J.M. Barrie’s delicious farce, written years before his now much-
loved Peter Pan, was so well known in its day that it gave its name
to the UK’s most popular chocolates, made in Halifax since 1936.

In Laurie Sansom's directorial debut for Northern Broadsides, this
rare revival also features a commentary from the Quality Street™
factory workers, whose own stories of hapless romance and
growing old disgracefully give the show a playful Yorkshire twist.

With special guest vocalist Vimala Rowe

Alto-sax master Tony Kofi fronts this loving celebration of the jazz
giant (in every sense) Julian “Cannonball” Adderley. The group
traces the explosive music of Cannonball from his first session as
leader in 1955 through to work with Miles Davis and the soul-jazz of
the late 1960s. Expect Adderley brothers classics like Things Are
Getting Better, Sack O’Woe and Mercy, Mercy, Mercy, as well as a
guest vocal spot by Vimala Rowe, exploring the memorable 1961
collaboration with Nancy Wilson.

42
Cannonball Adderley was one of the best-loved figures in post-war
jazz. Hailed as ‘the new Bird’ on his emergence on the scene, he
made historic recordings with Miles Davis and John Coltrane as well
as having many crossover hits as a pioneer of soul-jazz. Spanning
bebop to jazz-funk, he was an unfailingly inventive and
communicative virtuoso.

With special guest vocalist Vimala Rowe
Internationally renowned harpist Alina Bzhezhinska has a built a
reputation for innovation since she stormed onto the UK music
scene with her quartet in 2017.
For this new project, she creates a unique sound on the harp with
electronics and loop pedals, supported by a new quartet line-up.
Through original works and covers, she pays homage to some of
jazz, funk and hip-hop’s greatest innovators. Her new quartet draws
from a variety of influences, including Dorothy Ashby’s Afro-
harping, Alice Coltrane’s spiritual outputs and Sun Ra’s jazz
experimentation; as well as 90’s trip-hop and Kuti-esque Afrobeat
rhythms.
