January 1, 2023 Greetings and Happy New Year LCR Community and friends, It was so wonderful seeing so many of you and your families at the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Services. The sanctuary was full of a festive aura and happiness as we welcomed the birth of our Savior, One service at completing the anticipation of the Advent journey. 10:00 am For the past couple of months, the Council, along with No Fellowship Hour approximately 16-20 congregational members, has been or Sunday School preparing for the implementation of the Appreciative Inquiry process in mid-January, the initial step of the Call Process. A birthday second request of $4,250 was approved in response to an appeal from the Southeastern Synod, which has encountered a 12-15 percent shortfall in cash flow, affecting their ability to fulfill their mission support. Financially, LCR has continued to be on budget. With the opening of the campus this year, we have experienced an increase in expenses over that of the past couple of years during Covid, but we have been able to meet these changes. Regular Groups AFF-Adult Faith Formation LCR Sign-Ups By Heart: Conversations with Martin Luther’s Small Catechism Book Study led by Pastor Ruth Starting January 8 in between services 9:45-10:30 am in Classroom 8 downstairs Pastor Ruth invites you to participate in a series of conversations Worship Assistants about Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, using the book By Heart: Sign-up Link Conversations with Martin Luther’s Small Catechism. This study is for people who would like to be introduced to the catechism as well as for those who know it already. The hope is that these conversations, through the power of the Holy Spirit, deepen our understanding and faith. The beautifully illustrated book is very down-to-earth, just like Luther. It draws upon the history of Luther’s age as well as Luther’s biography to help us understand the context in which Altar Flower Sign-Up Luther wrote. It also helps us talk about questions that we ask today, like “Is my unbaptized grandchild saved?” or “What do Lutherans believe?” or “Why do we say the Creed?” Please purchase the book prior to the study, available from Amazon or Augsburg Fortress. Coffee Hour Volunteer Sign-Up 2023 Altar Flowers Help us adorn the altar for worship by purchasing flowers and celebrating a special occasion or honoring a loved one with your flower order. The cost is $47.50 for one arrangement and $95 for both. (Prices increased due to increases in floral and delivery charges). We especially need coverage for January.
