LOCAL DEVELOPER PLEDGES 3-YEAR CONTRIBUTION TO KATY ISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Cane Island, home to many parents, grandparents and increasing numbers of Katy ISD students, has joined the corps of Keystone Investors contributing
to the Katy ISD Education Foundation and its Inspiring Imagination teacher grant program. The Foundation’s Investor program allows the community,
both individuals and business leaders like Cane Island, to provide a sound financial platform for Foundation initiatives by committing to three years
or more of support.

Cane Island President Dan Naef joined the Katy ISD Education Foundation for 2019-2020 Inspiring Imagination teacher grant announcements. “It was
one of the most special experiences I’ve had in Katy,” Naef said, “To be present and witness the joy in a teacher’s eyes when they win a grant and to hear
the excitement in their voice, it’s priceless.” Cane Island doesn’t just build homes, it builds community. Naef said, “Nothing says community like taking
care of our children and taking care of the educators who pour into our children.”

The Katy ISD Education Foundation has awarded $1.6 million in its first seven years of Inspiring Imagination teacher grants, impacting students in
classrooms all around the district. Funding for the program is provided in part by long-term investors like Cane Island and annual fundraising events
Fireflies & Foodtrucks and GROOVE. To learn more, contact us at 281-396-6031 or visit www.katyisdeducationfoundation.org.

6. Folate: Folate or folic acid, is a particularly important vitamin for
women of childbearing age, which is why prenatal vitamins contain such
a hefty dose. A folate deficiency can cause a decrease in the total number
of cells and large red blood cells as well as neural tube defects in an
unborn child. Symptoms of a folate deficiency include fatigue, gray hair,
mouth ulcers, poor growth and a swollen tongue. To get folate from food,
go for fortified cereals, beans, lentils, leafy greens and oranges.
7. Magnesium: Magnesium helps support bone health and assists in
energy production. Magnesium deficiency can cause loss of appetite,
nausea and vomiting, fatigue and weakness. In more severe cases, it can
lead to numbness, muscle cramps, seizures, abnormal heart rhythms,
personality changes or low potassium or calcium levels. To help your
levels return to normal, eat more magnesium-rich foods, such as almonds,
cashews, peanuts, spinach, black beans and edamame.
