There are a handful of movies that if I'm flipping
through channels and see one of them on, I will stop to
watch at least a few minutes. … The Princess Bride,
Shawshank Redemption, and of course Chevy Chase in
any of the National Lampoon "Vacation" movies. The
premise: A family goes on vacation, and if anything can
go wrong, it does. Much like real-life vacations. Who
hasn't been on a trip with a child? No matter how long
the journey is – 5 minutes, 5 hours, 5 days – you are
bound to hear that wonderful question, "Are we there
yet?"
We sometimes ask that same question in our own lives.
We set goals for ourselves. And sometimes, it seems
like we will never quite get there. Health goals,
financial goals, education, or work goals. We get busy,
and … with the best of intentions … we look back … life
has passed us by! 'Are we there yet?' turns into 'Where
has the time gone?' I read once a perfect quote "Life is
what happens to you while you're busy making other
plans." 2
