The location of the Start, Exchange Zone, and Finish is in the open field next to The Railyard
Bike Park. The first leg will begin in a mass start, looping the riders around the open field
and then filing down to the single track, racing to the Pleasant Ridge Road tract and back to
the exchange zone while covering approximately 5 miles. The second rider will take over in
the Exchange Zone, cover the same course, and race back to the Finish.
Flagging and signs will mark the course for the Hot & Hilly MTB Challenge.

Please familiarize yourself with the course maps prior to the event, as some sections of this
trail system are challenging. Use your own judgment as to whether you have the skills
necessary to ride these sections. If you are in doubt, dismount and walk your bike through
that area, making sure to not block the trail for any riders behind you.

Note: some sections of the race course are on the paved trail. This is not a closed course, so
please use proper trail etiquette and courtesy when encountering other users.

Exchange Zone rules – there will be an area that has a “finishing chute” for the 1st leg riders
to ride through to complete their section. Adjoining the “finishing chute” will be a staging
area with the 2nd leg riders lined up side by side. There will not be any physical hand off or
exchange. Once the team’s 1st leg crosses the “line” the 2nd leg can start their section.

All racers start from the same location, and the first and second riders will cover the
same course.

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2017. Grab your gravel bike (road bikes won't
do here) for an all-out adventure ride featuring 30 miles of scenic gravel (70%) and paved

Mountain.

Departing from Avoca, Arkansas on Sunday July 30, riders will follow a well-marked route
featuring everything from beautiful rolling gravel, to some of the TOUGHEST climbs in Benton
County. The route will challenge most riders, with close to 2,500 feet of climbing packed into
30 miles.

But, with SAG support and a mid-ride experience from our sponsors Phat Tire Bike Shop at the
top of Whitney Mountain, we'll make sure everyone makes it back.

The ride will start and end near the Avoca Town Hall. See maps on the next page.

Beneficiaries and
              Use of Proceeds

Proceeds from the Rogers Cycling Festival support cycling causes in our region.

The NWA Emerging Leaders support the Rogers Community Bike Program. Through this
program, the Emerging Leaders purchased new bikes that were placed at trailheads in Rogers
for free public use. These sturdy “cruiser” type bikes stay outside at trailheads. Proceeds
from this year’s festival will allow new bikes to be purchased and donated for free public use.

Another beneficiary of the Rogers Cycling Festival is Pedal It Forward NWA.
(https://www.facebook.com/pg/PedalitforwardNWA/) Pedal It Forward NWA is a non-profit
organization that takes donated new and used bikes, tunes them up and provides them to
people in need. Over the past two years, Pedal It Forward has fixed up and donated over
1000 bikes to organizations such as Souls Harbor NWA, Seven Hills Homeless Shelter,
Department of Veterans Affairs in Fayetteville, Fort Smith and Springfield, Ozark Guidance
Center in Springdale, Oakdale Middle School’s Earn a Bike program, Mathias Elementary
School in Rogers, and many individuals in need of affordable transportation.

We will also provide contributions to Ozark Off Road Cyclists, Boston Mountain Cyclists,
and Rogers Area Trail Supporters (RATS) in recognition of their volunteers who will help
organize and run portions of the festival.

NWA Emerging Leaders (http://www.nwaemergingleaders.com/) is a program of the Rogers-
Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce. The Emerging Leaders Greenways & Trails workgroup
links parks, trails and people; to provide, protect, develop and maintain parks, greenways and
trails throughout the community; and to promote public awareness of the benefits of green
space. All festival funds are kept and managed by the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of
Commerce and are included in the chamber’s annual audit.

All proceeds will go to great cycling causes! Thanks for participating!
