      Oliver Jeffers makes art.

      From figurative painting and in-
      stallation to illustration and pic-
      ture-book making, Oliver Jeffers’
      work takes many forms. His distinc-
               tive paintings have been
               exhibited in multiple cities,
                  including Lazarides Gal-
                      lery and the National
                       Portrait Gallery in
                       London, the Brooklyn
                       Museum and Spring
                      Break Fair (Armory
                    Week) in New York, and
                  Gestalten Space in Berlin.

               Oliver’s picture books — in-
               cluding “The Incredible Book
              Eating Boy,” “This Moose Be-
              longs to Me,” “The Day The
              Crayons Quit” and its sequel
                       “The Day The Crayons
                        Came Home” (both

                      Upon an Alphabet”
       — have been translated into more than 30 languages. Working in collaboration
       with Studio AKA, Oliver’s second book, “Lost and Found,” was developed into an

                                        awards, including a BAFTA for Best Animated
                                            Short Film.

                                                Picture book awards include The New
                                                  York Times Best Illustrated Books,
         ON EXHIBIT:                               Smarties Award, Irish Book of the
                                                    Year, The Red House Book Award,
     Oliver Jeffers: 15 Years                        British Book Design Award, and The
                                                     Blue Peter Book of the Year. Oliver
        of Picturing Books                            won a NY Emmy in 2010 for his col-
                                                      laborative work with the artist
      June 7-Sept. 30, 2018                          and director Mac Premo. In 2013,
                                                     Oliver co-directed with Mac Premo
                                                    the video for “Ordinary Love” by U2,
                                                   and more recently made art for, and
                                                 helped art direct, U2’s Innocence and
                                               Experience World Tour.

                                         Oliver is from Belfast, Northern Ireland, and
                                       now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

        njoy theatrical readings of the most popular books by Oliver Jeffers at various locations. The
        books are read aloud dramatically while the illustrations are projected onto a big screen for
        visual and auditory learners. The readings are about 15 minutes each followed by an art
  activity. Readings include a costumed character and a button for your lanyard. Readers provided
  by Young Audiences of Abilene.

        n Thursday, June 7, the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council will unveil a new addition to
        the Storybook Sculpture Project at the Adamson-Spalding Storybook Garden, located
        on the southeast lawn of the Abilene Convention Center. The ceremony will take place
after the Storybook Parade Thursday night. The new addition is a bronze sculpture inspired
by the Oliver Jeffers book “This Moose Belongs to Me.” The sculpture was created by Steve
Neves. Earn a button for your lanyard by visiting the garden Friday or Saturday or attending
a Joe McDermott Music show in the garden.

covered with metal leaves of different colors representing peo-
ple honored by loved ones. The names are inscribed on plaques
near the tree. The names represent the wonderful values story-

ship and respect. Consider purchasing a silver leaf for $125 with a
loved one’s name. Upon request, a frameable certificate can be pro-
vided. The new names will be unveiled June 7 during the festivities.
