On this tour, you are going to sleep on a train next to the extremely popular Santos Beach – closer to the surf you won’t get. We’ll hop onto an unique train from George to Great Brak River. Exploring the wine estates of the region, a visit to the well known Botlierskop game reserve, home of the big 5, as well as a few of Gerrie’s favorite personal hang out spots will be on the agenda. This off-season tour of a local tourism Mecca, is filled with activities. If you like to travel by train, and is a fun loving laid back back person that enjoys the beach, then this tour is for you. Don’t hesitate, book now to avoid disappointment DAY 1:THURSDAY, 11 NOVEMBER 2021 We fly from OR Tambo, Johannesburg to George. On arrival we head straight for the Railway and Transport Museum with its wealth of trains and old automobiles. We enjoy lunch in the company of these respected old ladies, including the coach Queen Elizabeth travelled in as a teenager during her 1947 visit to South Africa. This museum also houses Paul Kruger’s coach (Die Wit wa) and private saloons in which he signed the 1947 treaty of peace on the bridge crossing the Zambezi.

Go for a stroll and pop in at the Pavilion, a well-known landmark not far from the hotel, for a steaming, fresh coffee. The Pavilion is one of only two buildings in the world with this specific colonial architecture, the other one is in Brighton, England. The Prince of Wales visited this local building in 1925. We explore a bit more of Mossel Bay and discover more ‘jewels’, before leaving for Jakkalsvlei, in die Herbertsdale district. This estate produces excellent wine and we won’t let the opportunity slip through our fingers to sample what they have to offer. The view of the vineyard and gorges is absolutely breath-taking. Heading there, we stop at Hokaai, for a nostalgic meal one can only dream of. You will return to Hokaai one day, take myword for it. Tonight, we get together for the last time at a hand-picked restaurant in town and swop contact details with new found friends, before falling asleep to the, now so familiar, soothing sound of waves. Overnight: Santos Express. DAY 5:MONDAY, 15 NOVEMBER 2021 With a heavy heart, we bid Mossel Bay and the ocean farewell and leave for George Airport for our flight back to Johannesburg. This area offers so much more than we could show you in such a short period, however, we promise the seed will be planted and you will come back.
