The Office of Indigenous Leadership invites all students to
explore a range of interactive displays including arts, music,
dance performances, workshops and tours showcasing the
state-of-the-art technology and facilities available to CDU
students. Students will also have the chance to learn more
about the School of Indigenous Knowledges and Public Policy
(SIKPP) and available indigenous knowledge elective units
which contribute towards their degrees.

     Is your grammar rusty?                   Academic writing requires clarity and accuracy. Brush up your grammar skills by
                                              joining this fun and functional grammar workshop.

     Learnline                                Prepare for success! Find out about Learnline, CDU’s online learning platform.
                                              Online learning is an important part of many study units at CDU, so understanding
                                              what Learnline is, and how to use it, is critical. You will be shown how to view and
                                              download content, interact with your lecturer and fellow students, undertake and
                                              upload assessment tasks and more. Attendance is strongly recommended.

     Maximise your employability while        What is employability and how do I get it? Learn what employers are looking for in
     you study                                a graduate and what you can do during your time at university to increase your
                                              employability.

     Microsoft: Helpful hints for             Develop your skills using Microsoft to assist with assignments and manage your
     assessments                              academic resources. Learn how to format your documents into a neat, well
                                              presented assignment in a few easy steps before submitting them to the lecturers.

     Notetaking in lectures                   Successful students take notes in lectures.
                                              Optimise your lectures by discovering notetaking methods to help you master the
                                              content of your course.

     Notetaking when reading                  At university, you may find the number of readings daunting. Get some tips on
                                              managing your reading by learning how to make notes effectively.

     Paragraph writing                        Understanding paragraph structure is essential in academic writing. Join this fun,
                                              practical workshop to acquire effective writing techniques.

     Peer Assisted Study Session              Join a PASS session to see how you can learn from other students and improve
     (PASS)                                   your grades.

     Plagiarism: how to avoid it              Plagiarism is often misunderstood. Come test your understanding of academic
                                              integrity and its possible breaches.

     Professional experience and              Students enrolled in undergraduate Education, Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy,

                                              strongly advised to attend this session to learn about what it means to undertake a

ACTIVITIES
Exploring library search          Students will be introduced to the primary search tool for the library called
                                  “Library Search”. Students will get hands-on experience using the search tool and
                                  will be guided on the most effective way to use it for their assignment preparation.

Library 101                       Kick start your university study by attending a Library 101 session. Discover what
                                  the library has to offer, check out our eBook titles, learn about our drop-in service,
                                  find your Liaison Librarian and relevant subject Libguides, and discover
                                  “Summon” and the CDU Library’s referencing guides.

TOURS
Campus tours                      Take a guided tour of the campus and facilities including the Chinese and
                                  Indonesian gardens, cafeteria, coffee shops and more.

International House Darwin tour   Explore CDU Casuarina’s only on-campus accommodation. International House
                                  Darwin (IHD) is home to more than 300 students and offers a caring and inclusive
                                  environment for those from near and far. IHD offers a community, not just a place
                                  to live. Our nationally recognised events program aims to ensure that you get the
                                  most out of university life. Take a guided tour of the facilities including
                                  accommodation options, tropical gardens, swimming pool and fully equipped
                                  recreational and study spaces.

Library Tour                      This informative tour will take you through each level of the library and provide an
                                  overview of the services available. We’ll look at various library collections,
                                  resources, study areas and other facilities.
