TAUPO SURVIVOR CAMP 2018
Camp 1 - 19th - 21st February 2018 Rm 17 and 18
Camp 2 - 21st - 23rd February 2018 Rm 15 and 16

7th February 2018

Dear Parents,

In week three of this term we are holding two class camps in the Catchpool/Orongorongo Valleys
in the Rimutaka Forest Park. Each class will participate in a three day camp and spend both nights
in tents in the Catchpool Valley Campsite. On the final day of each camp we will attend the H20
Xtream Pools in Upper Hutt before heading back to school.

The major objectives of the camps are to:
   ● provide a positive experience in the outdoors;
   ● develop class unity and team spirit;
   ● enjoy a variety of new and different experiences;
   ● continue the development of outdoor skills;
   ● give children some responsibility and independence in catering for their own needs

Children will:
   ● pack appropriate clothing and equipment;
   ● pitch and sleep in tents;
   ● plan, provide and cook meals in groups;
   ● participate in outdoor activities;
   ● tramp in groups with an adult to/from the Orongorongo Valley

Children and adults meet at school at 8.40am on morning of departure.

In order to hold the camps we need parents to provide transport to and from camp. At the end of
each camp we will need to help transport students to H20 Xtream Pools before returning to school.

   ● Camp 1 (21st February, Rm 17 and 18) Return pick up is 11am from Catchpool Valley and
       then to H20 Xtream Pools (Corner of Brown & Blenheim Streets, Upper Hutt.) Leave pools
       by 2pm to be back at school by 3pm.
   ● Camp 2 (23rd February, Rm 15 and 16) Return pick up is 11am from Catchpool Valley and
       then to H20 Xtream Pools (Corner of Brown & Blenheim Streets, Upper Hutt.) Leave pools
       by 2pm to be back at school by 3pm.

If you are attending camp as a parent helper your child’s teacher will give you a (in Week 2) Medical
Information slip to complete and return to school.

Thank you,

The Taupō Team ;)
