What happens after Year 11? If you are around 16 years old, it’s time to start thinking about your future. You need to stay in education or training until you’re 18. How you do this is up to you but you must do one of the following:- • Study full time in a school, college or with a training provider • Work full time with learning attached, like an apprenticeship • Study part time if you are working part time, self-employed or volunteering

The Process Ahead2020-2022: A-Level
Programme
• All students sitting here will now need to be in education, apprenticeship
or work-based training until their 18th birthday;
• All A-Levels will now be taught in a two year course with no AS
examination in Year 12;
• A process of in-house end of Year 12 exams will be undertaken by all
students
• Guidance will be given to all students throughout the year, whether
remaining at Mascalls or pursuing other routesThe next slides will talk you through the academic pathways offered at Mascalls… *Full details available in the main prospectus
Pathway One…
• Select 3 subjects at A-Level (students achieving highly at GCSE may choose a 4th)
• Two year course of study
• Entry Requirements: 5 x Level 5+ including English and Maths at Level 5+
(inc BTEC D*-M)
• Outcomes:
• Higher Education –
• University
• Higher Level Apprenticeship
Additional option of completing an
Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)Pathway Two… • 1-2 A-Level subjects • 1-2 Vocational courses • 2 year course of study • Entry Requirements: 5 x Level 5+/D*-M grades including English and/or Maths at Level 4+ (NB - Subject minimums will have to be met) • Outcomes: • Foundation or Undergraduate Degree • Higher Level Apprenticeship in a specific area (e.g. accountancy; business management etc)
Pathway Three… • A mainly vocational programme (with possibility of studying 1 A-Level alongside vocational options) • 2 year course • Entry Requirements: 5 x Level 5 +/D*-M grades (NB - Subject specific entry criteria will also have to be met) Level 4 in Eng/Maths required or retakes to be agreed by 6th Form • Outcomes: • Further education to extend learning • Work based training • Apprenticeships
