ICN APN definition
 Eine Pflegeexpertin APN (Advanced Practice Nurse) ist
  eine Pflegefachperson, welche sich Expertenwissen,
  Fähigkeiten zur Entscheidungsfindung bei komplexen
  Sachverhalten und klinische Kompetenzen für eine
  erweiterte pflegerische Praxis angeeignet hat.
 Die APN Rolle wird vom Kontext und/oder den
  Bedingungen des jeweiligen Kontextes oder Landes
  geprägt, in dem sie für die Ausübung ihrer Tätigkeit
  zugelassen ist.
 Ein Masterabschluss in Pflege (Nursing Science) gilt
  als Voraussetzung.

Die Praktika
• Beaufsichtigte klinische Praxis in 3 unterschiedlichen
  Fach-/Versorgungsbereichen zum Erwerb verschiedener
  klinischer Kompetenzen.
• Erwerb der Fähigkeiten zur selbständigen Langzeit-
  behandlung und –betreuung inkl. Behandlungs-
  management von älteren Menschen und Menschen
  mit chronischen Krankheiten.
• Mitarbeit zunächst unter direkter Aufsicht des Mentors,
  danach schrittweise Übernahme von Verantwortung, mit
  nur noch indirekter/punktueller Aufsicht.

Feedback of a clinical preceptor in the ANP+ program
Dear Morag,
thank you for your email. Again, also Anja was a great student and I
really hope that she enjoyed her clinical placement at our
department. This time I has the chance to do also the final
examination and I really was surprised how much Anja learned in
this 3 months and again I can only repeat that I’m still very
convinced about the program. I see a great potential in future for
this kind of students in diabetes care (or generally in patients with
chronic diseases). The only thing I can suggest is that maybe the
students could do a little bit a longer clinical practice so that they
might benefit a little bit more and see more patients by their own,
but I’m aware that this would prolonged the clinical placements.
So finally I would thank you Morag for this experience and for the
chance to work with the students, I really appreciated it!
