Indian festivals are grand and are celebrated throughout the year.
When it comes to celebrating them, we like to do it big, be it

would be sculpted out of fresh clay and mud. After worshipping

                                                                         health and
divinity in this earth icon, it was returned back to the nature by
immersing it in a water body. This represented the cycle of nature,

                                                                         prosperity!
from creation to dissolution.

Here are simple ways to promote eco- friendly celebrations:
Stay away from POP Idols. Instead, buy an eco-friendly clay
   idol.
Avoid clay idols with overly colorful paints, which could be
                                                                      ॐ गं गणपतये नमः
toxic. Clay idols that have been painted with vegetable
dyes and food colours are a good alternative.
Communities can also store their big idols for future use,
and only immerse a small clay idol.
Collaborate with NGOs and local organizations to conduct
cleaning drives at beaches, neighborhoods, or just along
   the streets.
   Conduct eco-friendly idol-building competitions
encouraging residents to get creative using ingredients
   like cow-dung, clay, mud.
For decoration, use only flowers, diyas and lights. Avoid
the usage of shiny ribbons, thermocol, plastic beads etc as
they all end up as reject waste. For the puja, use only
flowers, fruits, coconut, mango leaves, tulsi, grass, beetel
   nut leaves.
Serve prasadam in compostable tableware like Donnas,
   banana leaves.
Use a bucket of water at home or large water drums in
your community to immerse your idols. Clay idols typically
dissolves in two to three days. The leftover mud can be
   used for plants.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
                                       21st September, 2021

The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the
ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.

In 2021, as we heal from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are inspired to think
creatively and collectively about how to help everyone recover better, how to
build resilience, and how to transform our world into one that is more equal, more
just, equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and healthier.

The global ceasefire is must. It is important, that we must make peace with nature.
Despite the travel restrictions and economic shutdowns, climate change is not on
pause. What we need is a green and sustainable global economy that produces
jobs, reduces emissions, and builds resilience to climate impacts.

Investments must be made to avoid environmental degradation and pollution, in
particular, not favoring the growing emission of greenhouse gases that are already
known in common sense to cause global warming and promote climate change.
We have to invest that same money to promote a fairer, more sustainable
economy, for a more equitable, environmentally and more sustainable society, in a
better, healthier and greener world (WHO, 2020).

It is necessary to accept that there is an integral connection between the
environment, health and the economy. It is therefore important to invest in
healthy and green recovery, close to all communities, with the support of the
Environmental Health workforce and with collaboration from the International
Federation of Environmental Health. That’s why the 2021 theme for the
International Day of Peace is, “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable
                                                   world”.

PRAKRITI - Universal Business School
Dear Readers,

We have all faced a lot of newness and uncertainty in last two years.
2020 was the year that changed everything and 2021 began with many
                          questions about what lies ahead.

Among our biggest learnings from the pandemic have been that our
health and the environment' s health should not be neglected. One of the
more welcome changes in the year gone by was the clean air we all
breathed when our cities were locked down. It was a warning: we neglect
the environment only at our own peril.

Being students of Universal Business School, Let us all pledge for a Green
way of Life for a better tomorrow. There is need to create a “culture of
conservation”. In this new world, both business and the environment can
win. Being green is no longer a cost of doing business; it is a catalyst for
innovation, new market opportunity, and wealth creation. It’ s very
important for us as business students, to understand the critical
environmental threats, aim research to develop more environmentally
benign processes and products, design all new investment with
                            environmental effects in mind.

It’ s time to expand our vision and I am sure- together we can.
