St. Elizabeth
Cancer Center
Now Open
Kentucky faces the highest rates of overall cancer
incidence and death in the United States, leading
the nation in lung cancer incidence and death and
colorectal cancer incidence. With the ability to treat
nearly 500 patients in a day, the St. Elizabeth
Cancer Center leads the way in providing
personalized care and treatment in the region.
“What St. Elizabeth is bringing all under one roof for
the benefit of cancer patients and caregivers in our
community is extraordinary. There is nothing even
close to it here in our region,” said Kristi Nelson,
co-chair of the Cancer Center’s capital campaign.
Built for our community, by our community, more
than 745 people contributed a total of $35 million
to the Cancer Center Campaign. Among them
were St. Elizabeth associates, who contributed
$1.5 million through Vision with Hope. treatment. St. Elizabeth is a member of the Mayo

MEDICARE CORNER
Did you know Medicare pays for cardiovascular disease screenings?
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers cardiovascular screening blood tests once
every 5 years.
Your costs in Original Medicare: You pay nothing for the tests if your doctor or other
qualified health care provider accepts Medicare assignment.
Note: Your doctor or other health care provider may recommend you get services more
often than Medicare covers or they may recommend services that Medicare does not cover.
If this happens, you may have to pay some or all the costs. Ask questions so you understand
why your doctor is recommending certain services and whether Medicare will pay for them.
What is covered?
Blood tests for cholesterol, lipid, and triglyceride levels. These screenings include blood
tests that help detect conditions that may lead to a heart attack or stroke.
