 Dear Parents,
 CRAZY HAIR AND OUTFIT DAY
Thank you for joining in the fun last week with our ‘crazy hair and outfit’ day. It was very entertaining to observe
the students as they enjoyed their teacher’s crazy hair efforts on the day. There are more photos further on in the
 newsletter.

REMEMBRANCE DAY 11TH NOVEMBER The Fallen Soldiers
Thank you to our School Captains, The bodies lay in fields of death,
Amaya and Troy, for leading our Humbly amongst the bloody poppies,
Resting, away from war and demise,
 school in an excellent Remembrance
                                                                        Their devotion it embodies.
 Day commemoration this morning.
 Many students placed a flower/
flowers at the base of the flagpole at In valiance the soldiers died,
the conclusion of the service. In the bestowed life of their country,
                                                                        Serving heroically in the war,
One of our students in Year 6, To their patriotism, we take a knee.
 Ashmit, wrote the following poem
about, ‘The Fallen Soldiers’. It really Singing the song of death the bugle cries,
is outstanding! The honouring call of the soldiers we hear,
There is music in the midst of desolation,
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

                                                                        With sullen sorrowful hearts,
We tribute to their prodigious chivalry,
By the many crosses of the graveyard,
They hold their proud presence unequivocally.

                                                                        They shall never be forgotten,
                                                                        For age shall not condemn,
                                                                        These gallant fighting soldiers,
                                                                        We will remember them.
                                                                        Ashmit P

SUN SMART HATS TERM 1 AND TERM 4
It’s been lovely to see our students outside enjoying the sunshine and playing outdoors
with their friends over the last two weeks. Just a reminder that all students need a hat
and a drink bottle at school and that all students are required to wear their broad
brimmed hats for outdoor activities, this includes recess, lunch and Physical Education
lessons. We have had some interesting weather patterns but regardless of the amount of
sunshine we see during the day, it is important that we are wearing our hats outside to
protect us from the UV rays so that we do not get sunburnt. Please make sure your child
brings their broad brimmed hat every day as No Hat=No play. Sun screen is also available
for our students, however they are welcome to BYO and apply sunscreen at school.

FAREWELL
After over 30 years of service at Pinewood PS and the local community our lovely lollypop lady Anne will be retiring
next Tuesday …. Anne has asked for absolutely no fuss but it would be nice if all of our students could acknowledge
her for her dedication over her time at Pinewood. We wish Anne all the best for her retirement.

ENROLMENTS 2021
If you have a child that is of school age next year, and you haven’t yet completed an enrolment form for them to
attend Pinewood, please contact the school office as soon as possible so that we can begin to confirm our class
planning for 2021. With the exception of Year 6 students, please notify the school office if your child/children will
not be attending our school next year. This will help us in our planning for classrooms and teachers for 2021. Your
support in this important matter is very much appreciated.

Principal

Bonjour, Pinewood Primary School community. This week’s vocabulary list focuses on the different parts of the day
and night. Your children know that in French any noun has a gender. The definite article in front of each noun gives
away its gender. It is ‘le’ for a masculine noun and ‘la’ for a feminine one.
Make sure you add this week’s words to your child’s French word bank.

Meilleures voeux,
Madame Vinga

la journée – the day
la nuit – the night
