DRESSCODE Red Door Dance Academy maintains a dress code to encourage concentration and a sense of inclusiveness. Uniformity in dancewear allows teachers to assess students’ technique, problems with alignment, and other important aspects of dance training. Most Shining Stars dress code needs to be purchased through our online store-The InspiRED Shop. Items can be shipped directly to you or available for pick up at the studio. Bring all appropriate dance shoes in a bag and label everything with dancer's name. No watches or large jewelry for safety reasons Leveled class dress code items can be purchased through The InspiRED shop or other dancewear supplier. Details of each class' dress code can be found on our website. Dance shoes should never be worn outside and “street shoes” should never be worn on the dance floors. (wearing dance shoes outside just at drop off and pick up will be fine!) Female students should wear their hair pulled back off face. For Ballet Levels I and up dancers must have hair in a bun.

SHOWS NUTCRACKER/CHRISTMAS In 2019 Red Door hosted its first Nutcracker starring our Leveled Program Ballet dancers and we plan to continue the tradition this year! This year our Nutcracker will be back on a live stage! This is an optional performance opportunity for only ballet classes with an additional fee attached to it. Mark your calendars for November 10-12 and more details are coming soon! We typically host Christmas Parties for all of our Shining Stars Classes. END OF YEAR RECITALS At Red Door, our shows are split into Shining Stars Showcase (Mini Level, PreBallet, Combo and Mini Company) and Leveled Recital (Level I and up classes). We are still determining which show our PrePrimary classes will be in this year. Benefits of Recital: A big part of dance training includes learning through performance. Although performance opportunities can help prepare some students for a possible career in dance, they also contribute to children’s success in non-dance activities and builds skills they will use into adulthood. The experience helps build self- esteem and confidence, which can result in better school presentations, improved social skills, and strong college and job interview skills. When & Where: We have to wait for our typical venues to start booking events for May 2022. Typically shows are mid-end May and we will send confirmed dates out as soon as we have them!
HELPFUL INFO ARRIVAL & DEPARTURES While our lobby is back to being fully open, we are still encouraging those that can to drop dancers off and either wait in your car or run some errands during class and come back at pick up. This will help us keep the traffic in the lobby to a minimum and allow staff and students to get to and from classes in an orderly fashion. All classes let out 5 minutes early to allow time for staff to clean the rooms in between each class and prepare for their next class. Please be ready to pick up your dancer at this time. Dancers in back to back classes may sit in the lobby while they wait for their next class. ATTENDANCE All students are expected to attend their regularly scheduled classes. Each class offers a step forward in the educational process. During the months of January through May, choreography for the recital will be taught and rehearsed. It is important for children to feel completely confident with the choreography and the year-end performance. Missing class during this period could result in frustration for the students and their teachers and classmates. With that said, we ask that you continue to be diligent in not bringing dancers to class if they are sick. We are working to keep the studio a safe environment for all and need your help to do that! WEATHER CANCELLATIONS Notifications of weather cancellations will be emailed, posted on the website and the Facebook page. We typically follow Wylie ISD in decisions regarding closing for weather. You are guaranteed 34 classes over the school year, but there are more built into the schedule. We will offer makeup classes if cancellations cause us to drop below the 34 promised classes. MEDICAL INFO Parents must notify the director/and or teachers regarding children who may require medications during their time at Red Door Dance Academy. It is also important to inform the director and/or teachers about your child’s existing medical conditions or learning disabilities at the time of registration and before the first class. Our teachers are trained professionals who are anxious to work with all children and personalities, and the more we know about your child, the better the dance experience will be for all involved.
