Purpose In order to stay connected with your teachers and peers, good routines and structures are important to adopt from the very start, at home. During times of uncertainty, routines reassure us that we will be okay and structures help us to navigate change in a methodical way. The purpose of the booklet is to provide a starting point which supports Remote Learning 4 St Dom’s Girls. General Reminders Remote Learning 4 St Dom’s Girls requires all students to access their learning through SEQTA Learn. This will be supplemented with links to ‘Public’ drive on the College network, Seesaw (Year 6s), Office 365, YouTube, Google Classroom, short video recordings/ pre-recorded lessons. 2
Student Roles & Responsibilities o Students are required to have their College laptop with them at home and/or access to a home computer and Wi-Fi in order to login to the school network. o They are required to access SEQTA Learn at the lesson time and spend the same amount of time, as stipulated on their timetable for completion of work in each subject. o Study spaces at home should be structured environments, with good lighting and free of distractions. This will enable effective working during lesson times. o Where appropriate, timetabled work will be supplemented with ‘homework’. o Students will be required to submit assessments / assessment responses via the ‘Submit Work’ folder, found on the College network, in the ‘Public’ drive. o Students must be proactive and communicate with Staff for support. The expectation is that contact is made during regular school hours. o Students are not permitted to; Skype, exchange mobile numbers, or contact Staff via social media platforms. SEQTA Forums and School email accounts are to be used. o Live video conferencing and associated Child Protection measures are still being investigated. 3
Routine is your Friend Similar daily routines that already exist at school, should be adhered to at home. Students are required to dress in their uniform. Commencing Thursday 22 July, an attendance roll through SEQTA Forums will be taken each morning at 8:50am, and students will also be required to check in with each teacher at the start of their lesson. This can be as simple as posting a ‘hello’ or ‘good morning’ comment. Students will follow their normal class timetable. Once the lesson has begun, depending on the nature of the work, students may not need to be online for the entire time. If a student is experiencing difficulties in logging on, they should email their teacher as soon as practical. If a teacher does not hear from you, you will be marked ‘absent’. In the event that a student is unwell, and unable to engage in Remote Learning 4 St Dom’s Girls a parent/guardian should follow the usual process in reporting absenteeism to the College. 4
Mental Health & Wellbeing Staff at the College are committed to supporting you in the process of Remote Learning 4 St Dom’s Girls. Therefore, students are expected to attend their Pastoral Care lesson each week, in the same way you would attend a subject lesson. These lessons will take a different format, focusing on monitoring your mental health and wellbeing from afar.
