A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
This Sunday, our nation celebrates its 245th birthday. It has come a long way since the Declaration of
Independence was signed because many of its citizens never took for granted what it takes to be a citizen of
this country. That document spelled out principles ahead of its time, asserting that God endows all people
with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Attaining these rights however takes much sacrifice,
which many endured, enabling this country to become what it is today.
The same holds true for our parish. What makes us viable as a faith community has been the sacrificial
attitude of many parishioners. They care about St. Hubert Parish even amid this pandemic. They have gone the
extra mile, actively participating in various roles from carrying out numerous liturgical roles to sitting on our
leadership councils. In addition to giving of their time, they see the value of stewardship in sustaining the
wellbeing of our parish and contributing to the Annual Catholic Appeal. If you feel that I am talking to you,
thank you! Our parish owes much to your willingness to invest your time, treasure, and talent in our varied
ministries. Without your support, we could not do what you rightly expect us to do.
If you have not been making much of an investment lately due to the
pandemic, please reconsider your willingness to participate in the life of
the parish and the archdiocese. For example, if you have not yet made a
pledge for the Annual Catholic Appeal, go online to the Archdiocese of
Seattle at https://archseattle.org/give-serve/annual-catholic-
appeal/acadonate/ and make your much needed pledge soon. It is
never too late to make a pledge and help us meet our goal.
As for our parish, I am told that if every household would increase their
weekly donation by $5 (that is less than a typical latte), we could
balance our budget.
In the weeks ahead, I look forward to welcoming more and more
parishioners back who have been away for months due to the
pandemic, and I hope that every family will, once again, find ways to be
actively engaged for the wellbeing of our parish.

Alice ThullWith Washington State “opening up” the Archdiocese has made a few adjustments to the current guidance
and has begun to look ahead for other upcoming changes. The Archdiocese stresses that, in all cases, pastoral
discretion should prevail.
Here are some guidelines and changes that will begin occurring throughout the Archdiocese of Seattle.
Again, these are guidelines from the Archdiocese. When to make these and other changes is at the
discretion of Fr. Rick and the staff at St. Hubert. We will work to ensure the comfort of all so that you feel
safe and welcomed to worship in person.
NOW
People will screen themselves for symptoms.
Facial coverings are encouraged for everyone, but not required.
A separate section of the church should be created for people who wish to remain physically distanced.
It may be one single section, or it may be several sections disbursed throughout the church.
Communion may be received on the hand or on the tongue.
Capacity is recommended at 50% or 400 people.
BEGINNING JULY 24-25
Relaxing the following guidelines pertains to all Masses, weddings, funerals, communal anointing, etc.
Holy Water can return to all areas.
An invitation to the faithful to exchange a sign of peace, such as a handshake or a wave, can be
reintroduced.
Presentation of gifts by the faithful – The missal, chalice, paten/ciborium, and cruets of wine and water
may be brought per normal practice.
FOOD
The Archdiocese has reached out to the governor’s office for more clarification around food and has not yet
received a response. Specifically, there is conflicting information around food service that needs clarification.
In lieu of an answer from the governor, the Archdiocese recommends we do the following:
Avoid any “close contact” which is 15 minutes of unmasked interaction within six feet distance between
non-household members.
Plan events that do not have food as part of them.
Instead of preparing food for buffet service, we recommend a boxed or plated option.
When eating inside, people from different households should be distanced from each other.
When possible, all food should be consumed outside.
This means a brief outdoor coffee and donuts is possible!
SAFETY AND SUPERVISION
Continue to keep all spaces well ventilated and designate areas for people who wish to remain physically
distanced.Parish Registration/Update Form Parish ID#
