The story of the transformative
power of music and the pride and
happiness it provides to both students and
teachers is told in this fascinating insight into the world
of the piano lesson. This endearing and uplifting
documentary explores the bond between piano
teachers and their pupils. As they struggle through
piano grade exams, which can be pleasing for some but
daunting for others, we meet characters from across
the length and breadth of Ireland who may inspire us

  FRIDAY 25 & SATURDAY 26 MAY, 8PM, €16/€14
A comedy laced with pathos and peppered with
memorable one-liners on emotional injury, love and
marriage. After the burial of Charlie’s father, his
savaging “best friend” Oliver calls by, prompting
the appearance of ‘Da’ to pass comment as Charlie
retraces the key events of Da’s life as well as the loves,
trials and tribulations they encountered over the years.
Though flawed, each character proves undeniably
human and identifiably Irish in this very funny and
tender play.
Directed by David Corri and featuring many of the cast
from recent successful run of ‘Big Maggie’.

When Orlando, a kindly, well-off man, dies suddenly,
he leaves behind Marina, a younger singer and the
love of his life. In the wake of this tragedy, everything
about their love is brought into question: Marina’s
involvement in his death, their unconventional
relationship, and above all, her right to mourn him.
Marina is a trans woman and for most of Orlando’s
family, her sexual identity is an aberration. She must
battle the same forces that she has spent a lifetime
fighting, just to become the woman she is now - a
complex, strong, forthright and fantastic woman.

themes, but peppered with scenes of outrageous humour. As Paul

of their only child to university, a mysterious Englishman’s
blossoming friendship with her creates the background to
tragedy. Even their close friends and neighbours fail to stem the
tide of Paul’s suspicion and anger.

              Lynda Devenney | Paradoxical Properties
OFFICIAL OPENING THURSDAY 7 JUNE AT 7PM
                              EXHIBITION RUNS UNTIL 22 JULY
Devenney’s hybrid installation Paradoxical Properties investigates
the function and form of objects and the structural ambivalence
between real and illusionary space. Utilising constructed stage sets,
digital video, props, sculptural objects and assemblage, the work
seeks to generate environments that incorporate the language
associated with theatre and television. These environments mimic
and explore space with the intention to appear as rehearsal or
fractured scenography that exist as displaced fragments, amplifying
its artifice.
