OF CALL

The city has a strong maritime
heritage, and the Mayflower set
sail from here for the New World in
1620. Medieval walls nestle among
modern developments to create a
unique waterfront environment,
which includes the Ocean Village
marina. Southampton’s port
is renowned worldwide for its
container ships and prestigious
cruise liners, while the city’s
SeaCity Museum celebrates
the importance of the sea to
Southampton’s past and present.
