TO: Mayor and City Council Members
City Commissioners
FROM: Benjamin Siegel, City Manager
DATE: March 18, 2021
SUBJECT: Weekly Update
______________________________________________________________________
Ramos Street Parking Lot Expansion Project Moving Forward: Last summer the City
completed an expansion of the Ramos Street Parking Lot, located at the corner of Ramos
Street and Paseo Adelanto, adding approximately 90 parking stalls to the existing lot. The
new parking spaces are heavily utilized (even during the pandemic) and, at its March 16
meeting, the City Council initiated a project to further expand the parking lot to
accommodate up to 50 additional parking spaces that will be available to visitors,
customers and employees of downtown businesses. The expanded parking lot is
expected to be complete and ready for public use in Summer 2021.
Orange County Moves to Red Tier: As Orange County continues to report improved
COVID-19 case data, this week state officials announced that Orange County has moved
to the Red Tier of the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) Blueprint for a
Safer Economy. At this time, many local industries and activities may expand capacity or
resume operations. For additional information on which businesses and activities may
reopen or expand operations, please visit the State’s COVID-19 website.
Mobile Vaccination Event for Underserved Seniors: A mobile COVID-19 vaccination
clinic was held this week at the San Juan Capistrano Community Center to provide the
second dose of vaccine to several hundred San Juan Capistrano seniors. The clinic was
sponsored by the County of Orange and Latino Health Access, which coordinated
registration and a focused outreach effort. The event was part of a County initiative
designed to directly provide vaccine to underserved seniors age 65 and older living in
high-density housing with limited access to transportation.
OC Animal Care Family Fur-st Drive Thru Pet Pantry: The second Saturday of each
month OC Animal Care hosts a drive through pet pantry for dog, cat, bird and rabbit food
while supplies last. The next drive through pantry event will take place on April 10 from
8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at OC Animal Care headquarters (1630 Victory Road in Tustin).
The effort has distributed over 47,000 pounds of food to help feed over 4,320 pets in our
community. If you are interested in supporting this event, please visit the Pet Pantry
Amazon Wish list to donate directly. For questions or additional information, please visit
