1. DESCRIPTION and GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1. The Sno*Drift Rally is the 2021 ARA National Championship’s premier winter rally. The event also
        includes the Sno*Drift regional rally.
1.2. Sno*Drift will take place on the roads of Montmorency County, Michigan. The entire event will take
place on Saturday. The itinerary includes 14 stages totaling ~112 miles of recently plowed winter stage
roads. The route is compact and takes place entirely within a 20 x 25 mile rectangular grid with a
        single, central service location.
1.3. The rally activities are not open to the public. All participants must be either ARA licensed
(competitors, their crew members, media, officials) or registered as a volunteer on the ARA web
site. Service area and stage access will be strictly limited to these participants with the access
        points controlled.
1.4. The event operations will be conducted in a manner to comply with social distancing and other local
        public health requirements and recommendations.
1.5. The activities schedule has been condensed for 2021 with scrutineering and recce on Friday and a full
day of competition on Saturday. There are optional testing activities on Thursday. All teams will have
adequate time to complete a two-pass recce through all the stages.
1.6. Rally Headquarters and Competitor, Press, and Worker check-in will be in the Atlanta High School,
10500 County Road 489, Atlanta, MI 49709. (See Appendix 2 for map).
1.7. Sno*Drift will start at the Atlanta High School, on February 20, and finish at the Atlanta High School
February 20 or 21 (depending on competitor start time).
1.8. There will be no Parc Exposé at the start of the rally.
1.9. Servicing will take place at the Atlanta High School parking lot. (See map in Appendix 2 for location.)
1.10. All stages on Sno*Drift are on unpaved surfaces. The competitor can expect roads to be snow covered
and/or icy. All stages will be plowed prior to the start of the rally. Recent light snow may not be cleared.
1.11. Sno*Drift will be run in accordance with the current ARA General Competition Rules, Rally Competition
Rules, Technical Rules and bulletins, as supplemented by these regulations.
1.12. Amendments or additional provisions to these Supplementary Regulations will be announced by dated
and numbered Competitor Bulletins. All bulletins become an integral part of these regulations. All
bulletins will be posted online and emailed to team contact.
1.13. The organizers will email a package of route, service and recce information to registered drivers and
co- drivers on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. This information is to be used for internal team

schedule in Appendix 1. Teams are free to set their own route and schedule within the confines of the

for themselves or their crew to take their cars through Scrutineering.
5.2. All recce roads will be open to the public including snow plows, school buses, mail trucks and the county
sheriff. Inconsiderate or irresponsible driving will result in exclusion from the event.

recommended options for recce. Recce participants do not have to follow these instructions, but must
be off any stage prior to recce closing time. Competitors drive their own pace through the stages and
public road sections (but must adhere to the stated speed limits and respect the reconnaissance time
        window).

9 START OF THE RALLY
9.1 The draw for start order (if required) will be conducted by the Clerk of the Course ~30 minutes after
reconnaissance (~6:45 PM) on Friday, February 19 via video conference call.
9.2 The final start list will be posted on the Official Notice Board on the Sno*Drift website The Clerk of the
Course will not accept inquiries to the start order after 9 am or after 5 pm for the regroup start order on
Saturday. The Sno*Drift official start will occur at the Atlanta High School at the time specified in
        Appendix 1.
9.3 All timecards will be handed out to competitors at check in. It is the responsibility of the team to make
sure they have the correct timecard when they start a section.

10 RUNNING OF THE RALLY
10.1 Sno*Drift consists of 2 legs and 4 sections of 3-4 stages each. Leg 1 consists of Sections 1 and 2 and
Leg 2 consists of Sections 3 and4. Competitors eligible to restart per ARA RCR 6.3 may do so at RGC
2 Out at the start of Leg 2.
10.2 Sanction exception. It is the intent of Sno*Drift to give teams encountering difficulty the opportunity to
complete stages when practical. A safety sweep crew travels each stage to ensure the road is cleared
of any medical situations and that all competitors are accounted for, entering stages shortly after the
start time of the last competitor. Upon reaching a stuck competitor the safety sweep crew will
immediately offer to extract the competitor with a single pull using the competitor’s tow strap. A
competitor so extracted will be allowed to continue ahead of safety sweep (so long as the stage is
open) and will be penalized with a stage time equal to lateness time plus 10 minutes (which is also 10
minutes of MPL), even if actual time is more than lateness time plus 10 minutes. If assistance is not
accepted or if the single pull is unsuccessful, the safety sweep crew will continue on (to remain on
schedule for the safety of the last competitor), and the competitor will be considered to have exceeded
MPL for the day. A COMPETITOR PASSED BY SAFETY SWEEP IS NO LONGER IN COMPETITION
OR MAY RESTART AT RGC 2 OUT.
10.3 Heavy sweep follows safety sweep and will assist in removing stranded competitors and vehicles from
                                                      Page 7 of 12
2021 Sno*Drift Rally
                             SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS
the course. Heavy sweep may choose to leave competition vehicles within stages during the first
running in the interest of maintaining the schedule.
10.4 Sanction exception. The maximum score for any stage a team completes is lateness time plus 10
        minutes.
10.5 Sanction exception. The maximum permitted lateness for each section of the rally is 15 minutes.
10.6 Stage start controls will close after the last car, or 15 minutes after the planned start time of the last
car, whichever comes first. Stage finish controls will close upon the passing of the safety sweep crew.
Teams that arrive at a start control after it closes are considered to have exceeded MPL and must
immediately suspend from the competition (they may be able to restart per ARA RCR 6.3 as noted in
        10.1 above).
10.7 In the event of a large time gap between teams, an ATC may require a competitor to immediately
enter without penalty in order to reduce the gap and improve safety. Competitors so “waved in” must
        comply without delay.
10.8 Sanction exception. All Transits are ‘Quiet Zones’, meaning stock headlights only, no anti-lag, keep
the noise down, no weaving or swerving to warm brakes and/or diffs, speed limits are strictly enforced.
In addition to RCR 6.4/6.4.1, Quiet Zone violations will include penalties per RCR 1.2.1.g. Violations
may also be enforced by the Montmorency County Sheriff's Department.
10.9 Please do not block side roads or driveways while waiting to check in at an ATC. Please do not use
the area in the vicinity of an ATC as a rest room. Local residents have cited both and we need their
support for the rally to continue. Violation will result in exclusion.

11 SERVICE
11.1 Service spots are ~ 20 x 50 ft. Extra, adjacent spots (20 ft x 50 ft) may be purchased for $200 each,
which will increase the width, or the length (both options are available). If your service rig will not fit in
the allocated service spots, you may make arrangements with the service area chief for use of one of
the limited number of extra length spots for $200, or you may purchase enough extra service spots to
       accommodate your rig.
11.2 Service will be at the Atlanta High School. Service spots will be assigned by the Chief of Service based
on the event entry date and additional site requests the Registrar has on hand as of noon, Friday,
February 12. Service assignments will be sent to competitors on Wednesday, February 17th.
Approximate time allowances for servicing are given in Appendix 1.
11.3 Service crews will be allowed to park and set up in their assigned space once the service area opens.
Crews needing to offload their competition car should do so outside the service area proper. There is a
large plowed lot south of the Atlanta School that may be used for offloading.
11.4 Only official, competing and registered service vehicles in possession of a valid access pass
are allowed entry into any service area. All occupants must be credentialed. The Service Area
       speed limit is 15 mph.
11.5 Trailers used for servicing are allowed in the service area provided they fit within your assigned service
spot. Since maneuvering trailers can be difficult in the aisles of the service areas, if you don’t need your
trailer for service, please leave it at your motel, or use a drop-off lot outside the main service area.
11.6 There is no limit to the number of service vehicles per competitor; they must be registered and fit within
the assigned service spot. Proof of insurance (declarations page) for all service vehicles in at least the
minimum amounts required by ARA RCR 2.2.1.C is required by Monday, February 15th.
11.7 Competition vehicles may not be refueled in a service area, except when in the fuel depot itself. The
only permitted activity in a fuel depot is the addition of fuel as defined by ARA Technical Rules 2.2.15.1.

Refueling equipment must be identified with the team number. Competitors or crews must clean up any
spills and remove all equipment by the Depot’s closing time.
11.8 Service crews should notify the Chief of Service if they leave the service area to retrieve a broken car.

12 IMPOUND AND TEAR DOWN
12.1 All finishing vehicles will be directed to Impound beyond the final Main Time Control. The vehicles are
required to remain in the Impound area until released by the Event Steward or his designee, or referred
for additional inspection as directed. Selected vehicles may be subject to tear-down. Series or event
personnel will be collecting provided equipment such as boost monitors and tracking equipment after
       MTC as well.
13 RESULTS / AWARDS
13.1 Trophies will be presented to the drivers and co-drivers of the winning entries in each class, provided a
minimum of two (2) cars are entered in the class. Trophies will also be presented to the Overall winners
of both the national and regional events. Additional awards may be announced via Official Notice.
