MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDATION CHAIR AND PRESIDENT The Scarborough Hospital has relied on the loyal support of the community and its philanthropic spirit since its beginning days. The General campus has benefited from two major capital campaigns that raised millions for maternity expansion, the purchase of major equipment and the new Emergency and Critical Care Centre. The Birchmount campus has relied on community support as one of Canada’s Salvation Army hospitals and, most recently, accountability for a $5 million campaign for an MRI machine. Although the demographics of the Scarborough community have changed dramatically over the last 20 years, the long tradition of generosity continues as you will find in the donor stories throughout this report. Through their stories, we celebrate and acknowledge the collective generosity of thousands of donors in our community. The recent success of the $5 million MRI Campaign for the Birchmount campus speaks volumes about the spirit of giving, alive and thriving, in our community. Our donors recognized a critical need and, once again, stepped up with unwavering support. We are very pleased to report that we have almost reached the $5 million goal. You, our generous donors, are the key to achieving our mission of providing an outstanding care experience that meets the unique needs of each and every patient. From small monthly gifts to memorial donations to multi-million dollar commitments, all are essential to what we do—providing exceptional care to our patients. Donations from you and the community are used wisely and responsibly in supporting the most urgent need of the hospital—medical equipment. Strong communities do build strong hospitals. On behalf of our patients, physicians, staff, volunteers and both the hospital and Foundation Boards of Directors, please accept our heartfelt thanks for the difference you are making. Sincerely, Paul Torrie Michael Mazza, cfre Chairman of the Board President & CEO The Scarborough Hospital Foundation The Scarborough Hospital Foundation 2 THE SCARBOROUGH HOSPITAL FOUNDATION REPORT TO DONORS 2011

As we look to the future, thanks to the Foundation and strong Ricky Li community support, our brand new MRI at our Birchmount campus is having an immediate impact for patients, and Ann P. Linton our wait times for some procedures have been reduced to an historic low of just 15 days—among the best in all of Wai Heung Liu Ontario. In addition, our Employee and Physician Engagement scores have shown dramatic improvements over the past few years. In fact, the company that administers our survey has never seen such large year-over-year gains. Our Leonard J. Livernois physician engagement alone has increased by 75% since 2008. I am extremely pleased with all of these results, but Marjorie & Diane Liverpool know the journey is far from over. We are committed to further improvements in our key indicators, and with the help Peter Lo & Grace Lo and advice of our community partners, I know we will meet any challenges that lie ahead.
