Strong communities build strong hospitals
MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDATION CHAIR AND PRESIDENT
The Scarborough Hospital has relied on the
loyal support of the community and its
philanthropic spirit since its beginning days.
The General campus has benefited from two
major capital campaigns that raised millions
for maternity expansion, the purchase of major
equipment and the new Emergency and Critical
Care Centre. The Birchmount campus has
relied on community support as one of Canada’s
Salvation Army hospitals and, most recently,
accountability
for a $5 million campaign for an MRI machine.
Although the demographics of the Scarborough community have changed dramatically
over the last 20 years, the long tradition of generosity continues as you will find in the donor
stories throughout this report. Through their stories, we celebrate and acknowledge the
collective generosity of thousands of donors in our community. The recent success of the
$5 million MRI Campaign for the Birchmount campus speaks volumes about the spirit of
giving, alive and thriving, in our community. Our donors recognized a critical need and,
once again, stepped up with unwavering support. We are very pleased to report that we
have almost reached the $5 million goal.
You, our generous donors, are the key to achieving our mission of providing an outstanding
care experience that meets the unique needs of each and every patient. From small monthly
gifts to memorial donations to multi-million dollar commitments, all are essential to what
we do—providing exceptional care to our patients. Donations from you and the community
are used wisely and responsibly in supporting the most urgent need of the hospital—medical
equipment.
