Around School
Mrs. McLoone's history classes conducted socratic
discussions about
government reactions
to social issues during
the progressive era.
Students contributed
high level thinking to
the statements made
by others, asked questions, and clarified their thinking around a variety of topics.
Congratulations to Mrs. Schwoerer who was this year's
recipient of our annual Dude Be Nice award. The students
said: "We chose you Mrs. Schwoerer because of your
contribution to this school and how your presence has made
every student feel happy. Your kindness and generosity has
made approaching you and asking for help so much easier.
You always make the extra effort to help and support
students and staff when we need an extra hand! Thank you
so much for all that you have done to make Laguna the best
school! We will miss you next year!!"Mr. Nett's science classes were experimenting with light using a radiometer. Students were trying to figure out why the vanes spin when light hits them. Students tried many methods to help them determine the science behind the motion including using a laser pointer, turning the light on and off quickly, blocking the light, and angling the light in different ways. Mrs. Ferrell's Math classes played "Glow Games" today using math relays and their problem solving skills to reinforce their understanding of the Pythagorean theorem. Students used fluorescent highlighters and found their clues on the glowing paper around the black-lit room. 7th Grader Eve Greenwood competed in our 2021 SLCUSD Virtual Animal Science Contest last week and was the top junior high individual and overall 3rd
High Individual competing against over 40 students
grades 7-12. They took a rigorous 50 question exam
that covered everything from breed identification,
medical math, and surgical tools, to diseases, anatomy
and more. We are so proud of all the students that
participated but extremely impressed with how well Eve
did as only a 7th grader! Congratulations on a huge
accomplishment!PTA News
