TIDINGS May 2021 Issue 5 - Trezevant Manor
AT YOUR SERVICE
   by Kim O'Donnell
One year ago, the article below was published in
the May issue of the Tidings. Disciplined, resilient,
formidable are words that come to mind when
describing the residents at Trezevant. Though we
have been accustomed to busy professional and
social schedules, we changed with the world at
the onset of COVID-19. Trezevant went from a vi-
brant, bustling community to a quiet, somber one
in which the common areas are inhabited with
   masked personnel.
'During this transformation, I have observed
numerous positive changes. I have observed a
group of very self-disciplined people. Longing to
adhere to a well-rounded schedule, you were able
to adapt your daily routine to fit the “new norm”.
This meant exercising independently, giving up
entertainment and social actives and dining alone.
Your resilience is to be admired! You all are so quick to accept the current situation. Although many are well up
in years and have daily personal challenges, you are quick to recover from all these difficulties: difficulties that
will be endured and/or conquered. You are a strong group of individuals whose behaviors should be emulated
   by staff and families.
Formidable, by definition, is to “inspire respect through being impressive¬ly large, powerful, intense, or capa-
ble”. You are truly an impressive group of individuals that make up our Trezevant campus. Together ,we will
endure as we continue to restrict our activities and keep smiling behind those masked faces.'

Fast forward to 2021 where we have a vaccinated residential population and re-opening of independent living
activities as our residents begin to enjoy familiar freedoms.
Derby Day has always been a popular event so mark your calendars for May

IN ST. EDWARD CHAPEL
by Rev. Julie McKenna
Our chaplains’ class “Transitions at Trezevant” will have 2 more sessions at 3:00 pm on Wednesdays:

Wed. May 5th—We will explore the distinction between Hospice and Palliative Care, and
what both have to offer residents and their families.

Wed., May 12th—We will look at legacy making, end of life rituals, and have additional Q
and A time for issues not clearly fleshed out in earlier sessions.

After the Transitions class ends mid-May we will take a break from Chaplains’ classes till July when Ben
Bledsoe will lead us in a s study of the Wisdom Literature of the Bible. During this time the chaplains will
be doing some long-range planning for the fall and spring of next year.

Of course, all our other classes are ongoing. If you haven’t tried them, it might be a good time to give them a
try:

Lectio Divina: Mondays at 2:00 pm in St. Edward Chapel—The Rev. Anne Carriere leads us as we reflect on
the meaning of the Gospel text for the upcoming Sunday.

Meditation: Mondays at 3:00 pm (from 3- 3:30pm)-- Linda Mischke leads a group in guided meditation.

Listen and Love: Thursdays at 3:00 pm-- Dina Smith reads stories from a variety of perspectives and partici-
pants discuss how the story connects with their own life experiences.

Knit, Pray Love: Thursdays at 4:00 pm in the Music Room. If you knit, darn, crochet, or needlepoint, come
join this group as they visit and sew together!
