Volume 24 Issue 11 May 2022
During the recent Lenten season, we worked on our preparation, took witness t
to the Last Supper, the Passion, Crucifixion and Resurrection and realized how
God’s unconditional love is meant for each one of us. Taking the time to reflect on
the Passion was necessary for us to understand what salvation means. While
Easter is a Solemnity and an Octave Feast, it is also a 50-day journey until
Pentecost. We continue to remember his resurrection with special devotion. Saint
Augustine shares this perspective: "The season before Easter signifies the troubles
in which we live here and now, while the time after Easter, which we are celebrating at present,
signifies the happiness that will be ours in the future”. These events are the cornerstone of our
Catholic faith. We all know we are called to follow Christ and in doing so, in this secular world,
we will be challenged to do what the status quo expects us to do. Being a Knight of Columbus
should serve as a reminder that we have a special commitment by being Catholic men who are
committed to not only our faith, but also to speak up when it is unpopular and to evangelize by
always doing the right thing. Pope John Paul II was quoted as telling the Knights on how
important our role is in evangelizing the world by our witness to the Gospel. The Pope asked us
to continue to be steadfast in our love for Christ. He also asked all the Knights to continue to
stand up for the dignity of all life. By our fidelity to the teaching of the magisterium and your
loyalty to the church and our pastors, we have born witness to the saving truth of our Catholic
faith. As we enter in the month of May, let us remember the month is traditionally dedicated to
our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary. Let us continue to carry our Rosaries and pray to the Blessed
Mother for the intercession of her Son, to her Son would refuse nothing. Let us pray for justice for
the downtrodden, and love and concern of God’s neediest children.
Finally, I want to recognize Gerry Bowes and Anthony Ciraolo for being Honorary Life Members
of our council! I want to thank everyone who attended the banquet! It was great seeing everyone
in a social setting.Volume 24, Issue 11 May 2022 (Mary Queen of Angels 12384) page 2

those in Need. And also, to that end, Council members go to St John’s Hospice to feed the

Your Council, in collaboration with the Parish, sponsors a Special Needs Mass each month.
Your Council collects items to support the Moms, although in NEED, chose LIFE. This “Baby

From the Desk of the Chaplain…
Dear Brother Knights,
Even as we continue to celebrate the Easter Season, we focus upon the
pivotal person in the life of Jesus and His Church: our Mother, Mary. This month is
dedicated to her.
We Knights know the importance of Mary not only in salvation history, but in
our individual lives. We were given her Rosary when we joined the Order and charged to
pray it as often as possible. May is a good month to examine how faithful we are to this
charge, and if needed to do something about it.
She is our Beacon in the darkness, the Consolation of Sinners, the Mother of
the Church and Mother of each one of us. Every Knight should have a deep devotion to the
Mother of God—and our Mother, too!
May Mary, Queen of Angels, keep you and all those you love close to her heart.Volume 24, Issue 9 March2022 (Mary Queen of Angels 12384) page 3
