                                      Revive Us Again
                           Author: William P Mackay
                                    Year: 1863
  Scriptures: Ps 47:6, 86:5, Hab 3:2, Jn 3:13-17, Acts 2:3, 2 Cor 3:6, Jude 1:24-25

1 We praise thee, O God, for the Son of thy love,
For Jesus who died and is now gone above.

                                          Refrain:
                                Hallelujah, thine the glory!
                                     Hallelujah, Amen!
                                Hallelujah, thine the glory!
                                     Revive us again.

2 We praise thee, O God, for thy Spirit of light,
Who has shown us our Saviour and scattered our night. [Refrain]

3 All glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain,
Who has borne all our sins and has cleansed ev'ry stain. [Refrain]

           4 Revive us again -- fill each heart with thy love;
May each soul be rekindled with fire from above. [Refrain]

Author: W. P. Mackay
Mackay was born in Montrose, Angus, Scotland, on 13 May 1839. He was educated at the University of
Edinburgh, where he graduated as MA, MB and CM before going on to gain his MD in 1870 with a
thesis on leprosy.[1] He worked as a doctor for a number of years before deciding to become a minister.
He testified that the reason behind his conversion was the discovery of his own Bible in the possession
of a dying patient he was attending. This Bible had been given to him by his
mother when he left home aged 17, but he had sold it to help make ends meet.[2]
He became minister of Prospect Street Presbyterian Church, Hull, in 1868[3] just
two years after the church was built. He married Mary Loughton Livingstone in
the same year. During his time as a minister he also wrote a number of hymns,
one of the best known of which is "We praise Thee, O God, for the Son of Thy
love" [4]
He died on 22 August 1885 in Portree, Scotland, as the result of an accident. He
fell from the pier while boarding a ferry, striking his head and spending some time
in the water before being rescued. He regained consciousness, but died later in a
local hotel.

                                                                                                     2

                    A word on The Word
“Leave not off reading of the Bible till you find your hearts warmed.
Read the word, not only as a history, but labour to be affected with
it. Let it not only inform you, but inflame you. ‘Is not my word like a
fire? Saith the Lord’: (Jer 23:29). Go not from the word till you can
say as those disciples. ‘Did not our hearts burn within us?’”

176 Words.

“Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity
              have dominion over me.”
                                  (Ps 119:133)

‘Order’, instruct, command, direct my steps, let them not fail to walk in accord
with thy word; let them stay the course, fervent and determined in their
pursuit. Strong in confidence knowing I will not be ashamed in the day I
give my account, for when my life is lived in accord with the Word of
God, what can countervail steps taken in confidence of thy word?
This is the joy of all those who love God and trust his words, they will always
be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, they will bring forth their
fruit, and all they do shall prosper (Ps 1:3). This is the joy and blessing of
all who believe the Lord has the words of eternal life (John 6:68).
Is there more comfort? Yes indeed. David besought the Lord to permit no
iniquity to have dominion, but those who have trusted in Christ, those who
have believed the words of everlasting life, for them, sin shall not have
dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace (Rom
        6:13-14)

                                            Call to Revival
“Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there; and make there an altar unto God, that
appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.”
     (Genesis 35:1)
HERE is a call to revival given Jacob. He needed revival. He had been delinquent
in obeying God, and had settled in an evil place (Genesis 33:18) where his
daughter was defiled (Genesis 34:1, 2) and where two of his sons did some very
wicked deeds (Genesis 34:13–30). This call to revival involved a precept, place,
     purpose, and prodding.

Precept in the call. The call to revival came in the form of a precept from
God. Thus the Word of God initiated revival. God’s Word is always the
foundation for a true spiritual revival be it in the church or in the individual.

Place in the call. The place where Jacob was to go was Bethel. There are two
significant lessons about this place. First, the meaning. “Bethel” means “house
of God.” Revival will put one in church. You can count on that. Second, the
mount. Bethel is located on a mount (Joshua 16:1). It is 1000 feet up from
Shalem where Jacob had dwelt and experienced the sin problems cited in
Genesis 34. Revival lifts; it leads to higher ground. Sin lowers; it never raises.

Purpose of the call. The purpose was twofold. First, it involved an abode.
Jacob was to dwell in Bethel. He needed to live in a holier place than Shalem.
Revival takes one out of unholy places. Second, it involved an altar. Jacob was
to build an altar there. The altar spoke of worship. Revival promotes worship.
The altar also spoke of sacrifice. True worship is not without sacrifice.

Prodding in the call. God often accompanies His commands with something
that will inspire obedience to them. Here He reminded Jacob of two things
about his previous visit at Bethel. First, the dream. In his previous visit to
Bethel, God “appeared” to Jacob in a dream which inspired dedication to God.
Second, the danger. In the previous visit, God promised to protect Jacob, who
was then fleeing from Esau. A reminder of dedication vows and of Divine
protection would help inspire obedience to God’s revival precept.1

Prayers answered as more than 50 churches allowed to reopen in Myanmar’s
Shan State

6 January 2020

The United Wa State Army (UWSA) in control of the Wa Special Region in Myanmar
(Burma), bordering China’s Yunnan province, has allowed at least 50 churches to
     reopen.

Local church leaders issued a plea for prayer when the
     China-backed, communist influencedseparatist group
closed more than 100 churches in northern Shan State
in 2018, demolishing some and banning the
construction of new church buildings. At least 200
Christian leaders and workers were “investigated” and
detained. All have since been released.

The UWSA order to close the churches included a
Chinese term jidujiao which refers to Protestant and evangelical Christians, indicating
the clampdown was aimed at specific denominations.

A Bible school was also shut down and 41 of its students arrested and forced into hard
     labour as military porters.

Local church leaders welcomed the reopenings and reported that most church
buildings in the towns of Panghsang, Hopang, Kho Pang and Namphan are now open
for worship, leaving only one church and a school building still closed.

Based in northern Shan State, the UWSA is the largest ethnic armed force in
Myanmar, with an estimated 40,000 personnel. The Myanmar Army has no presence
in the self-declared Wa Special Region, which is home to several ethnic groups
including Wa, Kachin, Ta’ang, Lahu, Lisu, Kokang, Shan, Chinese and Burman.
Christians form the largest religious group in the region, estimated to be 30% of the
population. Other smaller groups include Buddhists, Muslims and followers of tribal
     religions.

Ethnic Wa Christians were first led to Christ by American missionaries in the early
twentieth century. The written form of the Wa language uses the Latin alphabet, rather
than Chinese character symbols, because it was first codified by Western missionaries
compiling hymn books and other Christian literature. Chinese characters were
introduced into the Wa language in the 1950s, but Wa people in Shan State continue to
     use the original alphabet form.2

Australia’s Bushfires & Arson: Debunking the
Climate Change Myth
By Harbingers Daily - Original January 8, 2020

Australia’s Spectator magazine meticulously went through the news reports, town by
town, in Australia and added up all the arrests for arson. There are 200 cases of arson
   in Australia since the fall.
Let me go through a little bit of the list:
   According to my calculations and
   estimates, the number of individuals
   around Australia whose arson has
contributed to the current bushfire crisis
   has now passed 200.
The author here is not a global warming
skeptic, he just likes accuracy. let me go
   through some more from him:
Australia has a Firebug crisis. It will no doubt be up to future royal commissions and
inquiries that calculate exactly what proportion of the current loss and destruction
can be attributed to human action, but I suspect there will be a significant one.
Where’s the proof, you ask? Below is a sample of news reports from around the
   country over recent months.
I’m not going to show all 200 examples, I’ll just show some of them:
August 24 – Three teenage girls have been arrested for arson over 13 grassfires
police alleged were deliberately lit on the New South Wales Mid-North Coast.
November 13 – NSW police believe 12 bush fires may have been deliberately led
by arsonists during Tuesday’s “catastrophic” fire conditions… A suspected arsonist
was arrested after a chase through the Royal National Park, south of Sydney by an
Army Black Hawk helicopter. The crew the 6th Aviation Regiment unit in the Black
Hawk spotted a man “acting suspiciously” in the northern area of the park, The Daily
   Telegraph reported.
November 14 – Police alleged a teenager started a central Queensland bushfire
that has destroyed 14 homes… police say the 16-year-old boy has not been
charged with arson, but will be dealt with under the state’s Youth Justice Act.
November 20 – Last week we learned that the Binns Burra fire, which destroyed the
historic Binna Burra lodge in South East Queensland, was started by a carelessly
discarded cigarette. And the Gold Coast hinterland bushfires the week before may
have been started by army live-firing exercises at the Kokoda Barracks, a
spokesman for the Australian DefenceForce has conceded.
I’ll just show a couple more:
                                                                                             9
November 20 – More than half the 18 people were being dealt with by police over
recent Queensland brushfires are children, police have revealed. Since the state of
emergency was declared in Queensland on November 9, police said they have
taken action against 18 people for deliberately lighting fires.
Now I’m not gonna show it all, but this journalist in each case is citing and linking to
other published reports from reputable newspapers of record. He’s just adding them
all up and putting them all on one big list.
This is one of the craziest here:
November 27 – A volunteer firefighter in Australia has been charged with
deliberately lighting blazes during the nation’s bushfire crisis police arrested the
man, 19 for seven counts of alleged arson in an area south of Sydney, New South
     Wales.
A fireman charged with arson! 72 people charged in New South Wales alone.
December 20 – As firefighters remain on high alert, police revealed 103 of the
destructive fires that have last Queensland since September were deliberately lit.
Figures obtained by AAP reveal 98 people – 31 adults and 67 juveniles have been
dealt with by Queensland Police for deliberately setting fires.
     That’s another 98 in Queensland.
So who are these people? Are they psychopaths? Are they murderers? Well,
some of them may be. Are they environmentalists trying to get a narrative
going? Don’t rule that out, these wildfires are political gold for opportunists
like Catherine McKenna and Aaron weary.
Here’s what the author of this piece says in The Spectator:
There are no conspiracies here. Though arson has been tried and called for before
as a tool of terror, the Australian fires seem to result from the actions of
     unconnected individuals who are either disturbed or reckless. This is nothing new;
as ecological criminologist Paul Reid wrote back in November:
A 2015 satellite analysis of 113,000 fires from 1997-2009 confirmed what we had
known for some time – 40 per cent of fires are deliberately lit. Another 47 per cent
are accidental. This generally matches previous data published a decade earlier that
about half of all fires were suspected or deliberate arson, and 37 per cent accidental.
Combined they reached the same conclusion: 87% are man-made…
It looks bad on TV and it is bad, 24 people have died, but it’s been much much
     worse before for people.
Today, fossil fuels are the tool to fight fires, fire trucks, water bombers, just plain
evacuating people. We now have insurance to cover catastrophic losses. Most
people (thank God) will be okay. Accidents are accidental, arsonists are criminals,
we have to fight both. Maybe we can listen to the former deputy Prime Minister of
Australia, who cited aboriginal fire practices of controlled burns. 3

Brazilian Judge Orders Netflix to Remove ‘Gay
Jesus’ Comedy
By Decision Magazine January 9, 2020

A Brazilian judge on Thursday ordered
Netflix to stop showing in Brazil a comedy
film that depicts Jesus as a homosexual on
grounds it violates the nation’s religion laws.
Released in Brazil as a Christmas television
special, “The First Temptation of Christ” began
airing on Netflix Dec. 3. Produced by the
comedy troupe Porta dos Fundos, it depicts
Jesus returning home to a surprise party for his
30thbirthday—with a male guest who later plays “Jingle Bells” on the piano, replacing the
song’s traditional lyrics with words that mock God as Creator.
Dubbed a “gay Jesus comedy,” it drew an immediate outcry from Brazil’s Christian
community as blasphemous. Protests came to a head when the Porta dos Fundos
headquarters was firebombed on Christmas Eve.
Judge Benedicto Abicair ordered the film’s removal after more than 2 million
Brazilians signed a petition stating the film broke the law and “seriously offended”
Christians. A Brazilian Catholic organization circulated the petition, which also
argued that the airing of the film dishonored millions of Catholics.

Ricardo German, an Edinburgh-based Brazilian university student, was delighted by the
ruling. “According to article 208 of the Brazilian Penal Code, to ‘publicly denigrate an act
or object of religious worship’ is a crime punishable by up to one year in prison,” he told
LifeSiteNews. “Judge Abicair did nothing but order the provisional suspension of a work in
clear violation of that legal prohibition,” German said.

The judge, according to German, can forbid Netflix’s Brazilian operation—officially a “legal
person” for the purposes of legal proceedings—from streaming the film. He can also bar
Porta dos Fundos from advertising the film anywhere that can be accessed from Brazil,
“which would technically include the internet as a whole.”

Brazilian courts tend to lean to the Left, which causes some concern that a higher court
might reverse the decision. Judge Abicair argued the ruling benefits not only the Christian
community, but Brazilian society overall, which is mostly Christian. The ruling comes at a
time when some civil groups have accused Brazil’s far-right president, Jair Bolsonaro, of
waging a “cultural war,” cutting funding for arts projects that challenge Christian values.

Netflix has refused to comment on the ruling, as did Porta dos Fundos. The decision
contradicted an earlier decision rejecting censorship of the program, and is valid until
another court orders otherwise. As of today, the film is still listed as available on Netflix in
      the United States.4
