Our Mission: At Zion Lutheran School, God's love works in and through His people. In a nurturing environment and
through academic excellence, children grow in their love of learning and in their love of Jesus.

Message from Mrs. Koch…
Third Annual Zion Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Your family is invited to decorate a
pumpkin by carving, painting, or decorating it in a clever Halloween way! Here is how to
participate…
   1. Decorate, carve, or paint as many pumpkins as you would like to enter into the
contest. Make sure you label your pumpkin with your child’s name either with a note
inside or by writing on the bottom of the pumpkin.
   2. Bring your pumpkins to the soccer field the morning of October 29th and place
it/them on a folding chair located around the walking path.
   3. The children will get to “view” the pumpkins as they participate in the Jog-A-Thon.
They will get a ticket for each lap completed to then go and vote for their favorite
pumpkins! The pumpkin winners will get prizes! Every pumpkin entered will be
        awarded a prize!
   4. Pick up your pumpkin(s) at the end of the school day on October 29th.

moving parts so please let us know if you have any questions!

October 29th in Preschool...
GRANDPARENT’S DAY FUN! Here is the link to more information and to RSVP
https://forms.gle/Bww1humFe6tmNL616. Grandparents should bring a chair for themselves and
their grandchild. Decorating trunks and non-scary costumes are both optional!
Jog-A-Thon Times: In an effort to make it easy for our preschool friends to participate in the
Jog-A-Thon the preschoolers are scheduled to participate either right before or right after their
Grandparent’s Day time. This way our friends that are just coming for the events on Oct 29th
but it’s not their school day can just come for that time and then leave. We also have
Grandparents that like to pick their grandchild up after Grandparent’s Day so that’s still an
option. Remember ALL preschoolers are invited to participate this day even if it’s not their
school day- they would only come for the events!
Here’s the schedule…
3 yr old- (Lerner, Meyer) 8:30-9:00 Jog-A-Thon; Grandparent’s Day 9:00-10:00
4yr olds (Schultz, Reed, Lavezzi, Reed) Grandparent’s Day 10:00-11:00; Jog-A-Thon 11:00-
11:30

                                        PTL Spotlight

PTL Volunteer: Zion parents automatically become PTL members upon enrollment of their
student(s). PTL offers many opportunities and levels of involvement from volunteering to
becoming a board member. It is easier than you think. Sometimes it is as simple as setting up a
table, emptying a trash can, or just being a friendly face at events. If you would like to volunteer
but aren’t sure how, I will include my information below. Email me and we will find a role for you
that is fun and rewarding.

We hope to see you tonight at movie night!

Stay tuned for more information about our events for the year! Thank you for your support - we
couldn't do it without you!

Zion Lutheran School is a religious institution and therefore, doesn't receive any state or federal
funding for academics. Zion Lutheran Church subsidizes a significant portion of every student's
tuition. The school is supported by the church, tuition, volunteer support labor, and fundraisers
by the PTL and the school. I hope you will consider joining us.

Movie Night: We hope you will join us TONIGHT at 7pm for Movie Night and meet the PTL
board and committee members. We will have this event in the gym. $1 concessions will be
available along with a lot of fun with friends!

Coaches Needed: As our Volleyball season begins to wind down, it is time to look ahead to the
basketball season. Our basketball teams will be needing parents to volunteer as coaches this
year. At this time, it looks like our teams will be set up as follows:

   ● Boys A team will be boys in grades 6-8 (This is due to low number of boys we have in
       grades 7 and 8)
   ● Boys D teams will be boys in grades 4-5
   ● Girls A team will be girls in grades 7 and 8
   ● Girls C team will be girls in grades 5-6 (possibly grade 4)

Parents that are interested in coaching or assisting with a team should contact me at
bknosher@yahoo.com. We can arrange a time to talk about what is involved in coaching and if
it is something you would like to pursue.

Thank you,
Mr. Bruce Knosher
Zion Athletic Director
