RETURN TO SCHOOL PLAN
WELCOME BACK
FOR 2021/2022

            CHRIST CHURCH SCHOOL’S PRIMARY GOAL
is to return to “normal life at CCS” as much as possible while
still utilizing the mitigation tools that proved successful last year.
We want to provide our students with the most comfortable
learning environment we can, that is conducive to their
             creativity, imagination, and social development.

Christ Church School strongly recommends that
all students wear masks when indoors.
All faculty and staff will wear masks indoors.
WELCOME BACK
FOR 2021/2022

• Christ Church School has reevaluated and updated our campus COVID-19
protocols which have been carefully considered to address and promote the
safety, health and welfare of our community.
• Each of these details has been thoroughly weighed and planned by the CCS
Leadership Team, Executive School Board, Emergency Management Team
and the Community Health and Wellness Committee.
• Christ Church School will continue to monitor the Delta variant and remain in
consult with public health agencies, governmental authorities and other
entities. This includes but is not limited to the Center for Disease Control,
American Academy of Pediatrics, and the World Health Organization.
• These protocols are flexible and responsive to the state of the pandemic in
our community, which is always changing.
ARRIVALS AND
DISMISSALS
 • The School’s Gates 2 and 3 will be used for arrivals and dismissals. The pavilion area will serve as
early morning care and holding. CCS COVID-19 protocols will be enforced during arrivals and
     dismissals.
 • Students will wear their face covering during arrivals and dismissals. Their face covering must remain
on from when they exit their vehicle until they are in their classrooms at their seat and circumstances
permit them to have a mask break while indoors.
 • PK2 and PK3 parents must walk in to drop off and pick up their child. Parents will park in the Christ
Church Field on the west side and walk in through the main Gate 3 in the Breezeway. The gate will
open at 8:15am for arrivals, 12:30pm for half day dismissal, and 2:30pm for full day dismissal. Parents
will be greeted by the teacher *outside the Education Building doors. Parents will not enter the
     classroom or Education Building.
 • All parents must abide by CCS COVID-19 protocols while on the school campus: wear a face
covering, stay socially distant and avoid clustering. Please only remain on campus for the least
     amount of time necessary.
 • PK4 - 5th grade students will be dropped off in the east side carline at Gate 2 (the second awning).

HOW WE ARE KEEPING
CCS SAFE

Our layered mitigation approach includes, but is not limited to:
 • Enhanced Sickness Policy
 • Strongly recommending face coverings inside
 • Social distancing
 • Ventilation
 • Hygiene, cleaning and disinfection
 • Contact tracing in combination with isolation and quarantine
ENHANCED SICKNESS
    POLICY
• At home parental student screening must be performed daily prior to the student arriving on
campus. We expect parents to exercise good judgement when determining if it is safe for their
student(s) to be on campus. Parents may not send their child to school if they notice any symptoms
of illness. Please contact our school Student Health and Wellness Administrator
at jcabanillas@ccsfl.org for further directions on whether your child should attend school or not.
• CCS COVID-19 Sickness Policy does not allow anyone symptomatic to be on campus. Anyone
exhibiting COVID-like symptoms on campus will be escorted immediately to the Isolation Area.
Parents will be contacted to arrange for the pick-up of their child(ren) within 30 minutes.
• Student absenteeism will be monitored and a safe Return to School Plan according to CCS
COVID-19 protocols will be established to transition them back to campus.
• Anyone who has been tested for COVID and is waiting for test results may not return to the school
campus. Please contact our Student Health and Wellness Administrator at jcabanillas@ccsfl.org for
    instructions.
• Please review our CCS Student Sickness Policy in the Parent-Student Handbook (pages 17-20)
for student illnesses not related to COVID-19. Students will complete work at home independently
    when they are out sick.
FACE COVERINGS

• Christ Church School strongly recommends that ALL students wear a mask when indoors.
• CCS will continue a Mask Optional Policy for PK2-PK4 and has adopted a Hybrid Mask Policy for Grades K-5.
• All students in Grades K-5 will wear a mask indoors when moving/traveling and during enrichment classes.
• In Grades K-5, the Hybrid Mask Policy for indoor mask use considers the fact that risk of transmission varies by
individual and over time. It allows for flexibility of mask use contingent on higher or lower levels of community and/or
in-school transmission, as well as our school’s resources and capabilities of implementing a layered mitigation
approach. The school reserves the right to use face coverings as a mitigation strategy should it deem necessary.
• If changes to the plan are deemed necessary, the Leadership Team along with our Student Health and Wellness
Administrator will decide the best course of action and communicate these guidelines to you.
• We will begin the school year with K-5th grade students permitted a mask break in the homeroom
classroom only while at their seat, distanced, knowing other CCS mitigation strategies are in place.
• Parents who desire for their child(ren) to remove their face covering during the designated hybrid model time need to
have a conversation with their child, as CCS staff will not be responsible for holding students accountable and will be
reinforcing the recommended masking when indoors.
• Outdoor use of masks for everyone on campus will only be required under certain circumstances, for example when
crowding is likely and/or mixing of cohorts may occur.
• At this time, all faculty/staff/administrators are required to wear face coverings indoors.
PK2-PK4 MASK OPTIONAL
    POLICY
• Children at this stage of development have great difficulty self-monitoring their masks and following the
    proper masking guidelines.
• Some students have sensory integration challenges they are working on and mask wearing proves to be hard
    for them.
• Child development and the early years of learning are so important. There are twice as many synapsis in the
brain. Students are actively working on their speech, reading skills, communication, receptive language,
expressive language, emotional regulation, empathy, collaboration, social emotional skills, and more.
• This time is critical and an environment where there are other limitations that hinder their ability to engage
with their teachers and peers provides a challenge.
• It is important for our teachers to be able to see how these students enunciate their words, witness their
metacognition, and facial expressions as they work to grow the whole child. When children are masked it is a
challenge to see how they are processing information or figure out their learning needs.
• We desire to place the whole child’s spiritual, emotional, social, and physical growth as priority, alongside
    health and safety.
SOCIAL DISTANCING

In the classroom and around campus:
• Social distancing measures and signage throughout campus.
• All students will remain within the same cohorts to the greatest extent possible.
• Classroom desks have been separated to allow for the recommended social
distancing between each student in Grades K-5.
• Preprimary classroom tables have plexiglass partitions between students.
• Lunch will be served in the lunchroom for Grades K-5. Tables are socially
distanced with only 4 students per table. PK2-PK4 will eat in their classrooms
with their teacher and assistant as is customary at our school.
• Students will have their own hands-on learning tools, devices, and materials to
    the greatest extent possible.
VENTILATION

• Air conditioning filters are changed routinely with high-rated HEPA filters.
• UV light filters are installed in air conditioners throughout the campus.
• Outdoor spaces will be utilized when possible.
HYGIENE, CLEANING,
& DISINFECTION
• Handwashing and hand sanitization will take place frequently throughout the day.
• Sinks and hand sanitizer stations have been installed in all classrooms, lunchroom, and outdoor
    areas around school campus.
• Key times to wash hands:
Upon entering and exiting the classroom
        Before and after eating
After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
        After touching your face
        After using shared objects
        After using the bathroom
*Hand sanitizer may be used when soap and water is unavailable.
• Reminders will be given on respiratory etiquette.
• Cleaning and disinfection of campus routinely during the day. Particular attention to
high-touch surfaces and high traffic areas.
• Daily fogging of all classrooms, hallways, bathrooms and stairwells with a safe virucide.
CONTACT TRACING

• Contact tracing will be used in combination with isolation and quarantine.
• CCS works closely with the Florida Department of Health on COVID-related
matters. Contact tracing will take place under their guidance.
• Any student with exposure to COVID may not come to school. Please contact the Student
Health and Wellness Administrator at jcabanillas@ccsfl.org for instructions. The school
will work in conjunction with the Health Department to determine the need to quarantine.
• Any student with a positive diagnosis of COVID is expected to isolate at home and may
not come to school. Please contact the Student Health and Wellness Administrator at
jcabanillas@ccsfl.org for instructions. The school will work in conjunction with the Health
Department to determine when it is safe for the student to return to campus.
• Quarantine and isolation guidelines may differ for members within the same household.
EVENTS, CLUBS, STUDENT SERVICES,
& ATHLETICS

• CCS works closely with the Florida Department of Health on COVID-related
matters. Contact tracing will take place under their guidance.
• CCS Athletics will resume. The soccer season will begin with tryouts the
  second week of school.
• Fall clubs will not take place. The possibility of after-school clubs will be
  reevaluated for Winter.
• Occupational Therapy and Speech/Language Therapy will continue on
campus following Christ Church School’s COVID health and safety protocol.
• Tutoring on campus will continue following Christ Church School’s COVID
  health and safety protocol.
PARENTS AND VISITORS
ON CAMPUS

• Parents and visitors must follow CCS COVID-19 protocols while on-campus.
• Parents or visitors will only be allowed on campus with an appointment, and
    only if necessary.
• Parents and visitors are expected to wear a face covering at all times.
• A contact-less protocol will be in place if a parent needs to drop off something
    for their child.
• Parents will park in designated visitor spots outside the front office for early
pick up. Your child will be brought to you at the office door.
TRAVEL

• Please complete the customary CCS Family Trip or Planned Absence
Permission Form with details regarding your travel plans. This form should
be given to your child(ren)’s teacher(s) two weeks prior to the absence. The
form can be found on the Parent Portal under School Announcements.
• International Travels: CCS follows CDC guidelines for International
Travel. Families planning on traveling outside the United States are asked
to review the most current CDC guidelines to the destination at the time
of the travel. For questions regarding the CDC guidelines
for International Travel, please contact our Student Health and
  Wellness Administrator at jcabanillas@ccsfl.org.
