Throughout my first term I have been very pleased with Council’s
ability to, professionally and respectfully, get things done. I have
enjoyed the challenges and successes over the past four years and
look forward to continuing to advance our strategies around community
safety, economic development, environmental sustainability and
infrastructure renewal.

Council Candidate: Allan Buxton
It's with the upmost confidence and enthusiasm that I announce my
candidacy for the position of councilor with the City of Campbell River
for the upcoming civic elections on October 20th, 2018.
This decision did not come lightly and everyone I have talked to are
100% supportive and believe I can make a difference, most
importantly, I truly believe I can make a difference. The community’s
needs, arts and culture, new business development and making sure
your tax dollars are spent in a responsible manner are what I’m
passionate about.
The next 4 years are going to be crucial for the growth of our great
community and I want to be a part of shaping that growth through
listening and engaging people in the community and bringing their
thoughts with me to council.

Council Candidate: Charlie Cornfield
My name is Charles J. Cornfield but people call me Charlie. A
widower, was married 42 years with 2 grown children. Vancouver
Island born and raised, I have worked in the Forestry, Recreation,
Conservation and Tourism sectors throughout BC. In 1991, we moved
to our dream location: Campbell River.
I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience; with 16 years on
Council—including one term as Mayor, and a proven record for
achieving results.

Council Candidate: Kermit Dahl
After 33 years in Campbell River, KERMIT DAHL is ready to step up to
the plate and become a voice for the people. Kermit is running for
Council with a vision for our city that will include:
•   Preserving what we value.
•   Providing access and support from City Hall for new projects and
    minimizing the unnecessary red tape that is costly and ultimately
    discourages new businesses from considering Campbell River as
    an option for growth.

Council Candidate: Daniel Franklin
Daniel Franklin was born and raised in Campbell River and is a
graduate of Timberline Secondary. Daniel’s motivation for running for
city council is to help make Campbell River the best City possible for
himself, his wife, and his two children. Daniel believes that the future
prosperity of Campbell River, and it’s citizens, relies on economic
growth and housing affordability.
Housing affordability issues that Daniel would like to look into are
property taxes, rules and regulations that might inhibit new building,
and unconventional housing solutions such as tiny homes and
container homes.

Council Candidate: Ron Kerr
For the past seven years as your Councillor I have dedicated myself to
moving important issues forward. I believe decisions made by Council
must reflect opinions of all sectors and individuals. I am a passionate,
skilled liaison and I will continue to work hard to represent you on
issues that present difficult solutions. Important to me is safety and
security, more sustainable jobs supporting young families, and keeping
taxes firmly in check. Encouragement of business and industry, with
consideration of social and environmental concerns, is at the forefront
of my decisions.

Council Candidate: Claire Moglove
Claire Moglove was born in Winnipeg and graduated Law School in
1979. Claire practiced law in Vancouver until 1992 when she moved
and opened her practice in Campbell River.
Claire served on Campbell River Council between 2008 and 2014.
She also served on various Boards/Committees associated with her
role as City Councillor. She was elected Chair of the Regional Hospital
Board in 2012.
Since retirement in 2014, Claire has served on a number of Boards
including VIU, VIHA, Campbell River Community Foundation and the
Willow Point Supportive Housing Society.
Claire has been very active in the community having served as
volunteer coordinator for the Relay for Life and Terry Fox Run. She is
a past Board member of the Campbell River Museum and has served
on the organizing committees for various local sporting events,
including the Off-Road Triathlon, the Merville 15K run, and the Miracle
Beach 5 and 10K run.

Council Candidate: Marlene Wright

Marlene has been a resident of Campbell River for 37 years, has a
solid family, was a successful owner/manager of two local businesses
and is an active community volunteer!
Marlene says: I have a proven track record over the past three years
on City Council in supporting the Municipal Broadband project, as a
member of the 3.5-acre Waterfront Task Force, on the Comox
Strathcona Hospital Regional District Board, as a committee member
for the Strathcona Gardens and advocate for the artificial soccer turf
project.
To reach our community goals, I will support well planned economic
growth, downtown improvement/safety, more quality senior care and
increased accessibility to City recreation facilities.
My specific priorities are to implement the 3.5-acre plan, upgrade city
infrastructure, create sustainable tourism opportunities, increase
cycling / hiking trails (Snowden Forest) and support more family /
community events.
