BRING YOUR OWN BAG
Starting March 1, 2020, retailers in New
York State will be prohibited from
distributing plastic carryout bags to
customers. Please remember to
BRING YOUR OWN BAG! To help
encourage reusable bag use, the City of
Yonkers has made available a limited
supply of free reusable bags to residents.
Please visit the Office of Constituent
Services at City Hall or call (914) 377-6010
for more information.
RECYCLE COACH APP
Yonkers residents can now access the Recycle
Coach app, free of charge, from their desktop
computers, mobile devices, or through digital
assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
Get your garbage and recycling schedule plus
receive weekly reminders for garbage and
recycling collections. Download the FREE app
from the App Store and Google play.
TURN IN YOUR TEXTILES
Be sure to drop off your used clothes,
shoes, sheets, towels and other textiles to
the Yonkers Recycling Center at 735 Saw
Mill River Road. Do your part to keep our
waste streams clear of these items.
YONKERS PUBLIC SCHOOLS
PITCHING IN
Yonkers Public Schools now use food
trays made of 100% recycled materials
in all 39 schools! The transition to trays
that are biodegradable and compostable
has eliminated the use of two million
polystyrene (Styrofoam) food trays, which
are produced using fossil fuels and
carcinogenic compounds.
