2021 GOLF OPERATIONS - UofL Golf Club
The University of Louisville Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course designed by Spencer Holt that offers
a challenging yet fun experience to all skill levels. There are seven tee box options to choose from that range
from 5,000 to 7,200 yards and are accommodating to all age groups. Lush bent grass greens and fairways
make for a great environment on the course, which is accompanied by a two-tiered bent grass/zoysia
practice range. ULGC is the home of the University of Louisville Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams, and the
course is always in tournament ready condition.

                                     General Golf Guidelines
Member Play Registration
  All members are required to register their intent to play the golf course before beginning their round.
  Keys are in golf carts for member convenience. Please register your round and any guests after cart pick
  up.

Golf Course and Practice Area Attire
  Men
  Sport shirts with collars, short or long sleeve mock turtlenecks, sweaters, slacks or appropriate length
  Bermuda shorts, and non-metal spiked golf shoes are permitted. Shirts are to be tucked into slacks or
  shorts. Parachute cargo pants and shorts, t-shirts of any kind, and tennis/coaching shorts are considered
  inappropriate attire. Denim is not permitted on the golf course, or range at any time.
  Women
  Blouses, sweaters, skirts, slacks or appropriate length Bermuda shorts, and non-metal spiked golf shoes
  are permitted. Tank tops and spaghetti-strap tops are considered inappropriate attire. Denim is not
  permitted on the golf course, or range at any time.
  Hats/Caps
  Hats/caps are to be worn in a manner for which they were intended, i.e., golf visors and baseball-style
  hats/caps with the brim facing forward.

Pace of Play
  An 18-hole round at ULGC should take no longer than 4:00 hours for a foursome. Playing golf at a
  reasonable pace is consistent with the traditions of the game and shows proper respect for other
  members/guests on the golf course. Golfers are encouraged to play ready golf. If a faster group is behind
  you, please consider letting them play through.

Course Etiquette
  Please fill divots taken on both fairways and teeing areas with the sand provided on the golf carts and at
  the turn. Please repair ball marks on the greens with a divot tool or tee. All players are required to have
  their own bags and clubs. Playing from the same bag is prohibited. Demo/rental sets are available upon
  request in the golf shop. Fivesomes are not permitted unless it is approved by the professional staff. If
  fivesomes are permitted, pace of play is still enforced, and slow play will result in the group being broken
  up. Please properly rake the bunkers after hitting out of them. Rakes are to be left outside of the bunker
  in areas that are least likely to affect the ball. Restrooms are located throughout the property on holes #7,
  #15, and the clubhouse

Cart Rules
  Cart Rules are determined by the superintendent each morning. Standard cart rules are identified as “In
  Fairways” or “Cart Path Only”. When carts are permitted off the path, we ask that you exit the cart path
  and begin to enter the bent grass at 90 degrees. Once in the fairway, remain in the fairway until you
  approach the black exit pole located approximately 75-100 yards from the green.. All par 3’s (#3, #8, #12,
  #16) are Cart Path Only at all times. The following holes, #6, #10, and #17, often require cart path only and
  will be indicated on a daily basis.

Guest Policy
  Members are responsible for all actions of their guests. Guests are required to follow all club rules
  regarding dress code and course etiquette. Unaccompanied Guests are not permitted before 2:00 PM on
  Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. Members are required to register all guests before beginning play.

Tee Time Reservations
  All members are encouraged to make tee times. Priority is given to members making tee times in
  advance. ULGC offers various membership opportunities that include advanced two-week booking
  privileges. Two-week booking privileges may not be shared with those members or memberships that
  exclude two-week booking privileges. Only those members and memberships with two-week priority
  access are eligible to be included on a tee time outside of one week. Inside one week all members are
  eligible for tee time access.
  Please note each tee time represents 4 players and must be represented by member name or guest name.
  Generic place holding with TBA or X is not allowed. All players must be defined with a player name.
  Tee times can be made by calling the golf shop or through the ULGC App. Tee times are booked in
  10-minute intervals (8:00, 8:10, 8:20, etc.). The course will be open for play Tuesday-Sunday with the
  following tee time schedule:

  January & February: 10:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  March: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  April: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  May-August: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  September: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  October & November: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  December: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  The course will be open for play on Mondays throughout the year if it falls on a holiday weekend. Please
  check with the golf shop, or the tee sheet for availability.
  Double Tee Start on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays from April thru October.

Handicaps
  ULGC proudly uses the USGA GHIN Handicap System. This system is based on member entry of scores
  and can be posted via the USGA GHIN app on your smart phone. The season for posting scores is from
  March 1st to November 30th. Members are required to maintain an up to date handicap to participate in
  club events and leagues.

Tournament Policies
  Every tournament will have a sign-up window that ranges from 1-2 months prior to the tournament
  date depending on field size (Member-Guest, Member-Member, etc. will be 2 months). There will
  also be a registration deadline that will be enforced to ensure the staff can organize and produce the
  most competitive and enjoyable experience possible. Tournaments will be posted in Golf Genius for
  membership registration and contain event information.

Thursday Night Men’s League

Format – Match Play
  •    18 points available per match.
  •    2 points given per hole (1 for low
       ball net and 1 for low team total
       net).

Handicaps
  •    Players get 100% of handicap from
       the following selected tees:
  •    Men ages 49 and under -Cardinal
  •    Men ages 50 and over -Cardinal/
       ACC Blended
  •    Men ages 55 and over -ACC
  •    Men ages 60 and over -ACC/UL
       Blended
  •    Men ages 65 and over -UL

Divisions
  •    Divisions will be formed based on combined course handicap and the amount of teams that sign up.
  •    With 12 weeks on the schedule, each team will play every other team in their division at least once.

Subs
  •    If you are unable to play, you are responsible for finding a sub.
  •    If you cannot find a sub on your own, you may use the sub list that will be provided.
  •    If a sub cannot be found, your partner can still play, but will only be eligible to win the low-ball net
       point per hole. They would forfeit the low team total net point per hole.
  •    If an entire team no-show, they will receive 0 points, and the team they were scheduled to play will
       receive 18 points.

Scoring
  •    Please return all scorecards to the golf professional staff following play.

Payout
  •    A cumulative divisional points list will be sent out through email on a weekly basis.
  •    At the completion of week 12 the top teams in each division will receive golf shop credit.

Weekly winners ($13 per player each week)
  •    Golf shop credit will be awarded to the following weekly winners:
  •    Closest to the pin #3 (TBA)
  •    Closest to the pin #6 (TBA)
  •    Low team gross in each Division

CLGA

The Cardinal Ladies Golf Association was established to promote the game of golf, unite the ladies of the
club, provide the opportunity for weekly play, and for fun. There are two business meetings held each year in
conjunction with the Opening and Closing Day Scrambles.
The CLGA consists of ladies of various talents and handicaps range from the 30s to the single digits. Each
week there is a designed game meant to give everyone a chance at success. Groups are created based on
format. Most the time it is random, but some are determined by handicap. Awards at the end of the season’s
fall meeting include:

 The McDowell Cup is a competition in which two twelve person teams compete in a Ryder Cup style
 match-play event. The event is named after the McDowell family farm which was the land you know as the
 UofL Golf Club. The two Captains are the top two individuals who have accumulated the most points.
 McDowell Cup Qualifying
 Throughout the course of the year, playing in select club events will allow you to accumulate points.
 Should you play well enough to make the top twenty-four players, you will be notified by the Professional
 Staff. The Captains will alternate picking from the twenty-two remaining players starting with the Captain
 with the most points. If you finish outside the top twenty-two remaining, you will become an alternate.
 Captains will be responsible for pairing their players in to two person teams and assigning each player/
 team to a match.

Making a Tee Time in the ULGC App

Step 1:   First you will want to download the ClubHouse Online App.
Step 2:   You will login with your same credentials used for the ULGC website. Make
		        sure to put in University of Louisville Golf Club in Club Name.
Step 3:   To make a tee time you will want click on Tee Times.
Step 4:   Pick the date you want to make your tee time.
Step 5:   Choose your mode of transportation and add any additional members or
		        guests. You can also choose to make any notes you would like your
		        professional staff to know for that specific tee time.

Cap Patrol
ULGC is introducing a new App this spring to help monitor scores posted through GHIN. Much more
information will be sent in the coming weeks regarding Cap Patrol.
