Our Pastoral Council
At a recent meeting of our pastoral council we were discussing the role of the council in the life
of the parish, and one of the council members suggested that I write something for the Beacon
and bulletin about this. Our parish has a great pastoral council, and I am glad to tell you how
they help me provide for the pastoral needs of our parish. The twelve members of the pastoral
council act as a consultative body, providing me with advice, suggestions, feedback, and
assistance in pastoral planning.

Since they are all lay members of our parish, the pastoral council helps me to know how things
are among the “people in the pews.” Although any one of you can contact me through email,
phone, and personal conversation, another easy way to propose issues for discussion and also
to ask questions is for you to contact a member of the pastoral council. At Mass you can
identify them by their green name badges. Their pictures are on the bulletin board outside the church, as well as on our
parish website: http://stedward.com/pastoral-council/

Feel free to email any member of our parish council, using the links on the webpage just referenced. Consider whether,
in the future, you might want to be part of the council. We all work together for the good of the parish and the spreading
of the gospel.

Gratefully yours,
Fr. Philip

Padre Felipe

The Knights of Columbus participated, in the national Wreaths Across America day for the first
time this year. They chose to honor our fallen military heroes buried at Miramar National
  Cemetery, San Diego.
The Knights sold Remembrance Wreaths for $15.00 after all masses the first weekend of
November, All Souls Day. A total of 338 wreaths were sold, achieving their goal of 300 wreaths.
The St. Edward's contingent of volunteers for the wreath-laying ceremony held on Sat. Dec 14th
totaled 43 people. The 43 volunteers consisted of Knights, family members, and several children
and their families from St. Edward's parish school Cub Scout Pack 705. It was a very emotional
and beautiful event to lay the remembrance wreaths on the graves, say a prayer, and honor the
heroes. The Cub Scouts say they will definitely join the Knights again next year.
Thank you Outreach Committee for your support of the Knights of Columbus' inaugural Wreaths
  Across America event 2019.
