This Sale is taking place under Covid-19 Guidelines
No admittance to general public Face masks are mandatory
SOCIAL DISTANCING MUST BE OBSERVED AT ALL TIMES
• Only Vendors, Purchasers, Grooms/Handlers and Transport Companies will be granted
admittance. All interested parties are asked to vacate the premises as soon as their
business is concluded
• Covid 19 protocol reminders from signage and stewards
• Multiple hand sanitizer stations throughout site facility
• Toilets with hot water facilities and signage
• Regular cleaning of toilet areas and hard touch surfaces
• Covid 19 Compliance Officers stewarding throughout day.
VENDOR INFORMATION
• On arrival alll vendors must register with Covid-19 officers at the Sales Complex for
tracking and tracing purposes
• Number of attendees limited to vendor and one groom/handler per horse/pony
o Each extra horse/pony allows an extra handler – i.e. 2 entries = 3 handlers,
3 entries = 4 handlers
• There will be a staggered numerical arrival
• Parking in designated areas – e.g. horse truck and trailer parking and separate car park
by parking attendant
• On arrival documentation of lots in sale i.e. passports to be checked in at main office
• Vendor/Handler proceeds to pre-allocated stable via security steward entrance
• Each stable is 2-3m apart.
PURCHASERS INFORMATION
• All purchasers are required to pre-register with full contact details in advance of sale
• Parking in designated car park by car parking attendants
• Purchasers will have made transport arrangements for any purchases prior to sale
• Purchasers will proceed to main showing arena
Presentation of horses
• All Lots will be displayed in showing arenas at staggered/numerical times
• Purchasers will observe horses being displayed from a distance behind railings and may
engage with vendors to view Lots closer whilst maintaining social distance
• Each Lot will be called/paged to parade areas approx. 5-10 minutes before entering
sales ring.
Auction and Conclusion
• Handler + horse called to sales ring, vendor to Auctioneers Rostrum
• Sales ring marked every 2m for social distancing
• During the auction, Purchasers will be physically distanced in the selling area, and may
bid in the traditional manner or online
• If the horse is unsold, the vendor will be issued with Passport and ‘Pass-Out’ document
and depart premises
• If the horse is sold the Purchaser will be issued with Passport and ‘Pass-Out’ document
on payment of animal.
M artin and Mary Frances Donohoe, Goresbridge Horse Sales and the Go For Gold Team are proud to
present this catalogue for the eleventh renewal of the Goresbridge Go For Gold sale.
Due to the ongoing Covid 19 restrictions, the sale will be very different in appearance this year, but what
will not be compromised is the high quality of the horses on offer.
Once again, we have a fantastic collection for you to view, whether you attend in person or online. With
the latter in mind, we have introduced our online bidding facility, as well as extended videos and photo
footage to cover all aspects of the horses.
This year, while the viewing facilities for the horses remains the same, the auction itself will be staged
at Barnadown at an earlier time of 3.00pm.
We are again delighted to offer you an outstanding collection of horses – both proven and with potential.
We are also pleased to record that our list of notable graduates grows year on year, and in addition to our
more established four and five-star performers, this season’s up and coming stars include the Irish Breeders
Classic four-year-old champion Newmarket Patriot, the Wellington International advanced winner Red Hot
Cooley and the Ballindenisk CIC3-L* victor RCA Patron Saint. Having represented Ireland at Le Lion
d’Angers in 2019, both Boleybawn Freedom and Shannondale Icarus have progressed to win at the upper
level, as have numerous others moving through the grades.
With these and many other successes in mind, Martin and Mary Frances Donohoe of Goresbridge are
delighted to welcome selectors Sally Parkyn, Clare Ryan and Chris Ryan back on board. Acknowledged
worldwide as finders and producers of some of the sport’s most recognisable equine names, the trio were this
year again joined by the British four-star event rider Nicky Roncoroni and Bridget Speirs, mother of
Ireland’s Olympian Camilla. Both are well known in the sport as astute spotters of talent, and have proved
welcome and valuable additions to the team.
The equestrian complex at Barnadown, Co Wexford provides outstanding trial facilities. The purpose-
built international show jumping centre has two all-weather competition arenas, an indoor arena, a
championship grass arena as well as an all-weather cross-country track.
As always, your hosts Martin and Mary Frances will be on hand to answer any queries and extend the
warmest welcome to patrons both old and new.

BARNADOWN:
Barnadown is conveniently located just one mile off the n11 (main
dublin/rosslare route). It is just one hour south of dublin, one hour from
Waterford and Carlow and just over an hour from Kilkenny. This central location
provides easy access from all provinces.
1. Going South (from Dublin) – Continue to the end of the Gorey By Pass
(ignoring all signs for Gorey) until you meet the Clogh roundabout. Take the
Clogh exit off (2nd exit) the roundabout. Continue to the village of Clogh
(approx. 1 mile), turn right just before the filling station and take the
immediate left. This will take you over the moterway. Barnadown is just one
mile on the left.
2. Going North (from Enniscorthy) – continue on the n11 through ferns and
Camolin until the Clogh roundabout. Take the 1st exit for Clogh. Continue
for approx. a mile and in the small village of Clough turn right just before the
garage. Take an immediate left and Barnadown Showjumping is one mile
further on the left hand side.

8Veterinary
Procedures
All veterinary examinations will have taken place prior to
sale and all lots will be sold with veterinary certificates from
members of the Goresbridge Veterinary Panel whose
decision shall be final and binding on all parties.
All lots in this sale will be sold with a set of digital X-rays
taken by members of the Goresbridge X-Ray Panel and will
be available for purchasers to inspect prior to the sale.
Purchasers will have the right, within 30 minutes of the fall
of the hammer, to request a blood analysis, to detect pain
killing, anti-inflammatory or performance altering drugs.
The purchaser should contact the Sales Office to
arrange the above examination. If the result is positive, the
animal is returned and the vendor shall be barred from all
future sales.
9Radiographs
A basic survey set of radiographs will be taken for each
catalogued horse prior to the sale.
The set of digital radiographs will be taken only by members of
the Goresbridge X-Ray Panel and will subsequently be
available in a repository at Goresbridge Sales.

10Veterinary Examination
Procedures
Each horse presented for this sale will have received a full five
stage veterinary examination prior to the sale.
The examination will be conducted by a member of the
Goresbridge Veterinary Panel. At the conclusion of the
examination they will issue an agreed veterinary certificate
outlining any discoverable signs of disease, injury or physical
abnormality if any are found. They will also offer an opinion
whether on the balance of probability any of the conditions are or
are not likely to prejudice the animals use for eventing.
The examination consists of five stages:
1. Preliminary examination.
2. Trotting Up.
3. Strenuous Exercise.
4. Period of Rest.
5. Second Trot Up and foot examination.
Additionally the animals identity and age will be checked and at
the conclusion of the examination a blood test will be taken for
storage for possible drug testing.
The owner or their agent will be required to sign a declaration of
suitability for eventing and that no medication or abnormal
nutrient has been administered and that it is not subject to any
disease, injury, physical abnormality or vice other than recorded
or declared.

YOUNG EVENT HORSE SERIES
Formerly known as the FEHL, now as YES, this is a series of competitions originally
introduced in 2000. The overall objective has always been the development of skills
and talent of the best type of Irish bred horse, educated, prepared and tested en route
to the higher levels of international eventing.
Graduates from the series include the WEG horses Amacuzzi and Stellor Rebound,
former Badminton winner Paulank Brockagh, Rolex winner Bay My Hero, Olympic
medallist Mighty Nice, Away Cruising and Kilrodan Abbott.

ROYAL DUBLIN HORSE SHOW (RDS)
In 2006, The RDS introduced a class also aimed at identifying high class Irish bred
horses with the potential to become top class ‘three day eventers’. Prizewinners from
the first six ‘fehl’ classes qualify for this competition. Both four and five-year-old
sections are judged over two days, with presentations on the flat and over rustic fences,
followed the next day by a demanding ‘derby’ track in the main arena. High calibre
judges from the eventing world form a panel to adjudicate these classes. This year’s
classes, for example, were judged by Mary King, Sam Griffiths and Angela Tucker.
