A FOREST FULL OF POSSIBILITIES Ideas for additional activities. Every event that includes additional activities tailored to their guests’ interests is a success – we know this from experience. You can enjoy new experiences, relaxing hikes and invigorating mountain biking in the relaxing, idyllic Black Forest. The following suggestions are just a small selection of the nearly endless possibilities we have to offer. We have a wide range of interesting ideas for you for each season throughout the year, and can organise most excursions, culinary surprises and cabin stops in-house. Our outdoor and team building specialists can provide any special equipment you might need. WONDERFUL HIKES Tonbach is the starting point for many beautiful hiking trails. A stroll in and around Tonbach Valley takes you through expansive forests, bright mountain peaks and dark cirque lakes. If the fragrant Black Forest air gives you an appetite, we can gladly organise a rustic picnic at one of the many forest clearings upon request. HIKE RECOMMENDATION Heiner Finkbeiner enjoys the Huzenbach Seeblick. Starting at the hotel, you follow the Tonbachwiesen- weg path past the Wildgehege (wildlife preserve) and Salbeofen (kiln). From here, you take a narrow woodcutter’s path up to Überzwercher Berg and on to Hinterer Plon. This marks the start of a high moorland area that extends beyond the Hirschstein to Kleemisse (Kleemisswegle) – the perfect place for a short break. From here, continue past the Kleemisswegle to the Vorderer Plon and Zinkenhütte cabin. The path goes down from the Oberer Eichberg to the Waldstieg, Lönshütte cabin, and finally to our Blockhütte cabin. DISCOVERING THE BLACK FOREST Discover our beautiful landscape on lovely nature trails by mountain bike, e-bike or as a Nordic walker. Our experienced tour guides will take you past rushing streams and lush meadows on the most stunning paths to beautiful lookout points. We can organise a hearty snack or a rustic picnic on the roadside. Or you can explore the Black Forest in a romantic covered wagon or during a vintage car tour. RECOMMENDED MOUNTAIN BIKE TOUR Start at the hotel and ride through Reichenbacher Höfe. Continue along the Murg River to Klosterreichen- bach. In Reichenbach Valley, the route takes you on the loveliest trails along the Märtesweiher and past the Stöffelshütte. The Mittelweg path takes you towards Heselbach. From here, the tour will go back towards Klosterreichenbach, and then on to Tonbach via the “tour de Murg”. You will ride the hotel’s own fleet of mountain bikes, made by Solid, Bergamont and Corratec. · Fee: For a group up to 10 people, accompanied by one of our experienced mountain bike guides, per hour 59.– · Duration: Approx. 1.5 hours · Total length: 15.5 km · Ascension: 322 metres RECOMMENDED E-BIKE TOUR When you step on the pedals of the Pedelec bikes, you can feel powerful, yet gentle motors assisting your movement. This makes it easier to cycle distances that you would normally travel by car. It’s not surprising that Pedelec cyclists ride two to three times as much as cyclists on standard bicycles. Don’t make it hard for yourself – enjoy cycling made easy. We’ll join you on lovely tours through the beautiful Black Forest and show you the most stunning trails. NORDIC WALKING Experience this full-body exercise which uses light carbon sticks to help you build strength, endur- ance and flexibility while stimulating your metabolism. Nordic walking is a unique way of combining healthy exercise and movement with a relaxed nature experience. This style of training burns lots of calories, strengthens the upper body and improves endurance. Our trained exercise instructors will join you and give you tips on how to maximise your Nordic walking experience. We will tailor each tour to your desired duration and level of difficulty. · Fee: For a group of up to 8 people, including carbon sticks, per hour 59.– We can also offer two parallel groups of eight people, depending on the number of people and their level of proficiency · Recommended duration: 1.5 hours SEGWAYS Segways and the Black Forest – a nature-friendly combination. Each Segway tour requires a minimum of six people. Participants receive a thorough introduction prior to the tour, which is led by an experienced tour guide. For example, you can start at the hotel, take a two-hour tour of Tonbach Valley, and finish up with a snack at our Blockhütte cabin. · Fee: Per person 69.– · Number of people: At least 6, no more than 20 Groups of 15 people and up are led by a second guide (no extra charge) · Duration: 2 hours · Season: All seasons, main season April to October. Segway tours are also possible in winter, but with shorter routes as the batteries last less time in colder temperatures. It’s possible to order tea or punch to enjoy during the break (extra charge) Segways aren’t just for “hikes”. It’s possible to organise an exciting skills tour during an evening barbecue in the summer. We also offer Segway geocaching tours or Segway polo on the football field. SNOWSHOEING
The Black Forest winter wonderland is perfect for a snowshoe hike. You can experience the beauty of
the northern Black Forest as you roam the woods and meadows. Our exercise and gymnastics
instructors teach you the technique and join you on your fun adventure.
· Fees: For a group of up to 8 people, accompanied by an experienced guide, per hour 30.–
We can also accommodate multiple groups at the same time.
· Equipment can be rented at our partner store Sport Klumpp, per person 12.–

THE DISCOVERY OF SLOWNESS
Our coachman Bernd Wanke and two Black Forest horses will take you through the romantic Tonbach
Valley in a carriage or covered wagon, where you will learn about the unique history of this region. You
can also stop at the Blockhütte cabin afterwards for a hearty snack upon request. Carriage rides are
also available in the winter.
· Fees: For a group of max. 10–11 people in the carriage, 180.–
max. 16 people in the covered wagon 250.–

· It’s also possible to have larger groups with more than 16 people. We need to organise
additional carriages and covered wagons, which is why we recommend that you make a
reservation as early as possible.
ROMANTIC VINTAGE CAR RIDE
Explore the immediate surroundings with your family, friends or colleagues in a vintage bus (10-seat).
This rare bus from carmaker White was built in 1925 and is one of only two models still in existence
today. It is also possible to reserve vintage automobiles which seat up to 3 passengers. All of our
vehicles combined can accommodate a group of 32 people. Our vintage fleet includes a 1936 Mercedes
170 VA Cabrio and a 1951 Mercedes 170 VA Limousine, along with other fascinating models.

ALPINE CABINS – STOP IN AND ENJOY BLOCKHÜT TE Our Blockhütte cabin is located at the edge of the forest overlooking beautiful Tonbach Valley, just a 15-minute walk from the hotel. It’s an idyllic event location for traditional celebrations and dining. You can organise exclusive parties for 20–40 people with outstanding culinary options – from an afternoon barbecue to a classic Black Forest buffet in the evening. Choose from a variety of themed buffets or a fondue, raclette or barbecue evening. To create the perfect ambience, we’ll organise the right music (e.g. an accordion player for 75,– per hour) and games, like the game course set up by the Black Forest carpenters (see “Black Forest carpenters”). · The Blockhütte has space for a maximum of 40 people · Use of the cabin is dependent on the weather in winter months PUDELSTEINHÜT TE Pudelsteinhütte cabin is also located in the forest, about 30 minutes on foot or a 10-minute drive. It is available for rent from the forest management. Our kitchen and service teams delight our guests with culinary specialties here as well. Depending on your needs, you can order a buffet for your event inspired by a certain cuisine, featuring Swabian or Italian foods, for example. BLACK FOREST CARPENTERS
This little activity means loads of fun – and a chance to experience more about the surrounding
landscape, people and history. The wood processing industry has an age-old tradition in the Black
Forest. For centuries, this was practically the only source of income for the region’s inhabitants. The
carpenters of Baiersbronn bring a variety of games to Blockhütte and Pudelsteinhütte cabins, or to
other locations throughout Traube Tonbach, and organise a little game course just for you. You’ll nail
and saw, and even hit balloons with the carpenters’ hammer.
· Fee: For up to 3 carpenters 250.–
· Duration: approx. 2 hours flat rate
· Number of people: From 10 to 30 people (also for groups of 30 or more upon request)
· Season: All seasons, available outdoors all summer, also possible indoors in winter.
We can serve Glühwein, schnapps or other warming beverages in spring and autumn for

CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING IN CHRISTOPHSTAL
CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING IN CHRISTOPHSTAL
This is a great activity for groups, where everyone can show off their shooting skills. The shooting
station is located in Christophstal, near Baiersbronn. People shoot clay pigeons positioned a distance
of 100 metres using real bullets. People take 6 practice shots, and then take a shot at the wooden
target of honour – which will be awarded to the best marksman of the day. People start by shooting at
running hares, and then at clay pigeons. This is a very interesting and exciting activity designed for 10
to 40 people. Traube Tonbach will serve refreshments at the Jägerklause upon request. You can order
anything from coffee and cake in the afternoon to a traditional hunters’ buffet in the evening.
Appointments available upon request. Clay pigeon shooting is only available for adults. This activity
will be cancelled in the event of bad weather.

Page 8 Additional activities 1/2018THE ART OF GOLF NEARBY GOLF COURSES The Freudenstadt golf club was founded in 1929, and is one of the oldest and most traditional ones in Germany. The thrilling 18-hole golf course is just a few minutes’ drive from Traube Tonbach. We recommend the helpful introductory courses for newcomers and beginners. An experienced golf professional (PGA of Germany) will teach you the most important basic techniques and rules of the game, including the putt, chip, pitch and full swing. A little putting competition will follow the lesson. The lesson can be booked for groups of two and up. It includes rental equipment, practice balls, a small introductory gift, and a drink at the club restaurant. To hear the complete story, we recommend touring the brewery along with Kloster Alpirsbach, a former Benedictine monastery built in the Romantic style. Park rangers, including biologists, geographers and foresters offer hiking tours with interesting explanations on the flora and fauna. You can discover fascinating interplays within the natural world on an expert tour along the bubbling streams and waterfalls, and learn more about the thrilling origins of the northern Black Forest. Distance from Traube Tonbach: 37 km, travel time approx. 40 minutes
Experience the forest from the air: Hirschgrund Zipline Area Schwarzwald is nestled in the natural
landscape of Kinzig Valley, with its long side valleys and wooded mountainsides. Popular in the
United States for years, this leisure activity lets you take flight throughout the Black Forest. The
circular trail leads you by foot and by air over steep slopes and valleys, overgrown paths and cool
streams. Participants will climb several metres of altitude on the tour, but no athletic feats are
required. The courage to fly is rewarded with stunning views, surprising insights and a healthy dose
of adrenaline.

CLIMBING PARKS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO AIM HIGH
This fun activity promotes agility and strengthens team spirit. There is a climbing facility spanning
1.5 hectares of forest in Hallwangen (Dornstetten), located approx. 25 minutes away. Another
climbing park at Mehliskopf is about a 40-minute drive from Traube Tonbach. Seven climbing courses
on approx. 3.5 hectares of land offer different levels of difficulty. You can climb from tree to tree at
heights ranging from 3 to 14 metres.

Distance from Traube Tonbach: 12 km, travel time approx. 15 minutes
Freudenstadt’s city centre features a square marketplace spanning 5 hectares, surrounded on all sides
by 200 metre-long arcades. Duke Friedrich I von Württemberg founded the city in 1599 as a safe haven
for Protestants driven out of Austria. They worked in the nearby silver mine in Christophstal, where
silver was mined until 1750. Duke Friedrich’s court and landscape architect, Heinrich Schickhardt,
designed Freudenstadt on the drawing board – with a square marketplace surrounded by blocks of
houses. The city church is located at the lower end of the marketplace, built at a curious right angle to
fit within the city plan. Actors dressed as Duke Friedrich or architect Schickhardt will take your group
on a memorable tour through the city of Freudenstadt.

HISTORIC CIT Y TOUR BY TRAIN
During the tour, you will learn about the fascinating history of Freudenstadt’s railroads. The tour starts at the
fountain outside of the Rathaus (city hall) with an explanation of Freudenstadt’s significance as a spa town.
You will continue on to the City Train Station, where you will join Rudolf Meintel on an S-train ride to the Central
Station. This includes a visit to the main hall, which has an information board about the history of the railroad in this
region. The S-train then returns to the City Train Station. An explanation of the ticket machine is optional and takes
around 20 minutes.
Note: The tour should always start 20 minutes after the hour, e.g. at 2:20 p.m., to avoid unnecessarily long waits at the
train station for the connection between Freudenstadt City Station and the Central Station. It is possible to change the
time in hour-long intervals upon request. Participants should have a KONUS card. Otherwise, the trip from the City Train
Station to the Central Station will cost 2.50€* per person.

GEOCACHING Put modern tools to good use! Geocaching is a modern type of scavenger hunt. Equipped with a GPS receiver and a list of different tasks to do at various stops, you set off on a walking tour to find the cache based on the determined coordinates. Teams of four face off against each other. The minimum number of participants is four people. The game lasts for at least two halves á 15 minutes.
