Since ABCBHR moved the date of our basset blast to April, we’ve had the best turnout to date! Due to the
failed sale of the Fair and Expo Center, we are happy to report….
!
WE ARE BACK AT THE DOME-FAIR & EXPO CENTER!

Minnett Hall in the Fair & Expo Center features 23,000 square feet of indoor basset fun! If your basset is
well-socialized, then he/she can be off leash for the event so they can run, romp & play with the other
bassets! Your basset isn’t a social butterfly? No problem! We just ask that you keep your basset on a leash
or in an x-pen during the event. Only bassets and shorter can be off leash!

We are planning an event like no other!

Is your basset royalty? Did he/she have a rough beginning,
but is now living the good life? Nominate your basset hound
for the Royal Court! Tell us why you think your basset hound
should be King or Queen. Runner-ups will be crowned
Prince/Princess or Duke/Duchess.

Rules:
• All basset hounds entered must be attending the event.
• Entries must be 250 words or less
• Your basset hound must have been adopted through a rescue or from a shelter. They do not have to
be an ABC dog.

Send your entry no later than April 20, 2014. Entries will be read and selected by independent judges.
Judges decision will be final.
MEMORIAL SERVICE
!
ABCBHR will be doing a Memorial Service to honor our long-eared
friends and supporters/volunteers who are at the Rainbow Bridge
waiting for us.
!
Please provide us with the names of supporters and/or basset hounds
who you would like us to recognize at this year’s ceremony. Please
notify us of the names of the departed before April 20th.

Raise Money for ABCBHR!
➢ In the past 13 1/2 years we’ve rescued and re-homed over 900 Basset Hounds.
➢ We ensure that all bassets are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, medical
conditions addressed and heartworm tested.
➢ ABC is a 100% volunteer organization.
➢ Our only source of income is donations and fundraisers.
➢ ABCBHR spends approximately $45,000 each year on vet bills!
➢ Donations are tax-deductible & ABC is a 501c3 charity.

Admission for the event is $25 for the first 2 adults, $10 for each
additional adult 17 and up. Children 16 and under and all bassets enter for FREE! Even
though admission is only $25, we will be awarding prizes to the top 5 pledge earners
who bring in the most money through a combination of First Giving pages and pledge
money turned in upon arrival Saturday!! Please be sure to pre-register at
www.nybasset.org

Here are a few great ideas to increase your pledges:
! 1. “First Giving” First Giving is a quick, easy way to personalize your fundraising efforts. It makes it easy and more
comfortable to ask folks for pledges/donations. You can send them a link to your personal fundraising site and they can
donate via credit card. This is a great way to reach folks you may not see every day, or for someone who is shy about
asking for pledges/donations. Visit www.firstgiving.com and click on “create a page”, then search for “ABC” in the search
box to set up your page today. It’s quick, easy, and only takes a few minutes.
2. “Facebook” If you are a member of Facebook, please click on the “Facebook” link on ABC’s homepage and join our
group. Put your First Giving page link on your Facebook page!
3. Dimes for Dogs. Did you know that a standard 16 oz water bottle holds $90 in dimes?! Put the label below on a water
bottle and leave it in your entrance way, dresser, or kitchen table. Fill the bottle with your spare change every day and
watch the money accumulate! Have a business or know a business that would allow you to put the bottle at their register
on their counter? Fill ‘em up, bring ‘em in!
!
The more money you raise, the longer we can continue to help homeless basset hounds.
!DONATIONS
!
ABC is looking for donations of items that can be raffled at our Spring Basset Blast.
Here are some examples of what you can donate:
➢Gift cards from nationwide chains (Wal-Mart, Target, Applebee’s, etc.)
➢Dog related items (toys, leashes, biscuits, gift baskets)
➢Any basset related items
➢Home décor, bottles of wine, lottery tickets
➢Non-dog related theme gift baskets
We ask that items be in “new” condition. As a 501c3 organization, your donation
may be tax deductible. If you are interested in donating items for our raffles, please

ABC Basset Hound Rescue, Inc. is your organization. You have made it
successful through your continued financial support. We are asking for
your support to help assure that this organization continues to be the
premier dog rescue in New York by becoming an ABC VIP!
Over the years we have built a base for ABC including the purchase of a
trailer for the Slobber Shoppe and 2 vans to transport basset hounds
across NYS and bring them in from out of state.
We are setting the stage to continue this organization for years to come.
With funding coming in on a regular monthly basis, we will also build
reserves for the future of ABCBHR and its future leaders who will be
responsible for the continuation of this this amazing cause.
