03. Number of Students to be Admitted

There is no exact quota for the number of international students to be admitted. Candidates are
selected upon review of their academic ability, through a special admission process for foreign
students.

  04. Eligibility to Apply

Eligible to apply when international applicants satisfy all of the following requirements

1. Nationality : Female foreign nationals whose parents are both foreign nationality.
 ※ Korean citizens (including dual citizenship of applicant and both parents) will not be considered
   eligible for admission
 ※ Korean who obtained foreign nationals(applicant and both parents) are eligible only if she and her parents
   obtained their foreign nationals before entering her secondary school(Grade 10) (Only applicable to
   undergraduate applicants)

2. Education : Applicants must meet the following academic criteria.
             Programs                                               Prerequisites

   Under           Freshmen         Applicant must have acquired high school diploma before March 2018.
  Graduate
                                    Applicant must have completed at least 2 years in a university education
  Program          Transfer
                                    program before March 2018, and intend to transfer into the third year.

                   Master’s,
                                    Applicant must have completed a four-year-course university or university-
               Combined Master’s
                                    equivalent courses and acquired Bachelor’s degree before March 2018.
  Graduate       and Doctorate
  Program
                                    Applicant must have completed a post-graduate program and acquired
                   Doctorate
                                    Master’s degree before March 2018.

 ※ Exception will be made if the country's interdisciplinary academic year and the first day of school are later
   than those of Korea's by one month or less.

3. Language Proficiency Requirement : Applicant must meet one of the following language
   requirements.
A. The certificate of level 3 or above in Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) for undergraduate
   freshmen application, and level 4 for undergraduate transfer or graduate application.
※ Test of Proficiency in Korean(TOPIK) is recognized only if the transcript is submitted by the
   application deadline. However, those who take the 54th TOPIK(October, 21~22, 2017) or the 55th
   TOPIK(November, 18~19, 2017) (should summit the test identification first when applying) can be
   considered to fulfill their language requirement, accepted conditionally. Those who are accepted
   conditionally should submit the final transcript by December 22, 2017. If one fails to submit the
   final transcript or meet the above language requirements, the conditional acceptance will be
   cancelled.

B. Completing level 4 or above of Korean Language Intensive program in Ewha Language Center
※ The completion of Korean Language Intensive program will be recognized only if the certification
    is submitted by the application deadline. However, those who are still taking course level 4 during

the application period (the certificate of attendance should be submitted first when applying) can
   be considered to fulfill their language requirement conditionally. Those who are accepted
   conditionally should submit the certificate of completion as soon as the program is completed. If
   one fails to submit the certificate of completion or complete the course, the acceptance will be
   cancelled.

C. The following minimum English proficiency test scores: TOEFL(PBT 550, iBT 80), IELTS 5.5, TEPS
   550
※ English Proficiency Test Scores should be submitted before application deadline. Or your English
   proficiency will not be recognized.
※ Undergraduate freshmen or Undergraduate transfer applicants who satisfy the qualification with
   English proficiency can only be admitted to departments or majors whose degree programs are
   conducted in English. But an applicant who applies for academic programs other than that, can be
   admitted only if the applicant obtains TOPIK level 3 within a year after admission and TOPIK
   level 4 before the graduation.

D. High school diploma or bachelor’s degree from Korean or English speaking institutions

E. Recognition as possessing sufficient proficiency in Korean or English language by Ewha Womans
   University

※ Applicants admitted to undergraduate courses satisfying Korean language proficiency
  requirements of ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘D or ‘E’, must gain TOPIK level 4 prior to graduation. If not, the student
  may not be able to graduate.

  05. Evaluation

Applicant will be accepted for admission through a comprehensive evaluation of her academic ability,
achievements and development potential, based on submitted documents.
※ A screening interview may be required of the applicant when necessary. An overseas interview or a
  telephone interview may be arranged for overseas applicants.

 The application fee is 150,000 Korean won (or US $150).
※ Applicants must make a payment when they submit their online application

08. Important Notice for All Applicants

 Basic Precautions

A. Any matter not specified in this admissions guide with regard to the university’s special
    admissions process for international students will be pursuant to the decision of the university’s
    Admissions Review Committee.
B. Details of the evaluation process and scores shall not be disclosed.
C. Those who fail to submit the application fee or any required documents shall be excluded from
   consideration for admission.
D. In case the applicant is found to be ineligible for application, or has made any misrepresentation,
   alteration to the submitted documents (including those submitted by proxy), or has perpetrated
   any other kind of fraud, the university may deny or revoke the applicant’s admission or enrollment.
   This applies even if the fraudulence poses no immediate effect on the applicant’s passing of
   admission. Those whose admission or enrollment is denied or revoked for this reason may not
   reapply for admission to the university in the future.
E. 2018 Incoming students are required to undergo a physical checkup administered by the Ewha
   University Health Service Center (scheduled for the beginning of each semester). If the student is
   found to have an intractable disease or physical defect that may interfere with her academic
   performance, she must comply with the university’s decision to take a leave of absence or to make
   other arrangements.

B. The deadline for application is September 29(Fri), 2017 at 17:00 (Korean Time). The Application is
  accepted when the application fee is paid and required documents are submitted. However, if the
  internet is disconnected for unavoidable circumstances(ex. local situation), applicants could make
  an application through postal mail or in person without online application. In this case, applicants
  must submit all the required documents including application fee within application period in
  order for application to be accepted.
C. If the submitted documents are incomplete, or the application fee is not submitted, the applicant
  would be excluded from consideration for admission.

2. Submission of Required Documents
A. Register application form via internet, print out and fill out the Ewha Womans University
    application form, and submit with required documents by postal mail or in person.
B. Submitted documents or records will not be returned to the applicant. If the document is required
    to be original and cannot be reissued, please submit the copy of the document with
    Ewha’s/issuing organization’s/embassy’s confirmation of its authenticity on it.
C. The documents that are not in Korean or English must be translated to Korean or English and the
    copy must be submitted with certification from a notary.
D. If the submitted documents are incomplete, or the application fee is not submitted, the applicant
    will be excluded from candidates for admission.
E. The Office of Admissions may ask an applicant to submit additional documents not listed in the
  “Required Documents (pp.10-11)”, if there is a need to verify the authenticity of submitted
  materials.
F. In case where the applicant is found to be ineligible for application, or has made any
  misrepresentation, alteration to the submitted documents (including those submitted by proxy), or
  has perpetrated any other kind of fraud, the university may deny or revoke the applicant’s
  admission or enrollment. This applies even if the fraudulence poses no immediate effect on the
  applicant’s passing of admission. Those whose admission or enrollment is denied or revoked for
  this reason may not reapply for admission to the university in the future.

3. Notification of Admission and Scholarship Result
Admissions and scholarship notifications will be communicated through the Office of Admissions
website (http://admission.ewha.ac.kr) and via personal e-mail.

※ Applicants who are accepted conditionally should submit their TOPIK result or Certificate of
Completion (Korean Intensive program Level 4) from Ewha Language Center during the specified
period(by the middle of December or as soon as the course complete). If she doesn’t submit or the
result doesn’t meet our language requirements, the acceptance will be cancelled.

 Notice for Admitted Students

                    All Admitted students will go through a registration process.
         At each stage, the individual student will receive specific information via e-mail.
   Thus students should specify the e-mail address correctly when writing the application form.

1. Reply to the Letter of Affidavit
A. Registering students must submit the Letter of Affidavit during the specified period.
B. Letter of Affidavit can be submitted by postal mail, in person, or via e-mail.
C. Subsequent registration process will only be applied to students who have submitted the Letter of
   Affidavit.

2. Obtaining Medical Insurance and Submission of Insurance Certificate
A. All admitted international students must obtain medical insurance.
B. Applicants who already have insurance should submit the insurance certificate during the
  specified period (in the middle of February).
C. If the applicants do not obtain the medical insurance, issuance of the Certificate of Admission may
  be limited.
※ International students have to maintain medical insurance during the period of attendance. If the
    students do not maintain the medical insurance during the period of attendance, issuance of proof
    of enrollment may be withheld.

3. Tuition Payment
A. Admitted students who are planning to register, must pay for the tuition fee during the specified
   period (in the middle of February) to the designated bank.
B. Students receiving admissions from more than two universities in Korea, must choose only one
   university. If the students violate this rule, their admission offer will be revoked.

4. Submission of Additional Documents for Admitted Students
A. Applicant who is accepted conditionally should submit their TOPIK result or Certificate of
   Completion (Korean Intensive program Level 4) from Ewha Language Center during the specified
   period(by the end of December or as soon as the course is complete). If one fails to submit the
   certificate or the result doesn’t meet our language requirements, the acceptance will be cancelled.
B. Concerning the certificates (including transcripts, diplomas, etc.) given by foreign institutions,
   students must submit the “Confirmation documents from a foreign educational institute”, or
   “Confirmation document from consulate or embassy” which are certified and verified by the
   Korean Embassy where the institution is located by the middle of February. If the students are

from countries for Apostille certificates, they can submit an “Apostille certificate” issued by the
   government where the institute is located.

C. Students who have submitted the Certificate of Prospective Diploma when registering online
   application must submit the Certificate of Diploma to Ewha Womans University by February 28,

5. Certificate of Admission and Student Visa

6. Dormitory Application and Entrance
A. Students should apply for dormitory when submitting online application.
B. Those who apply for dormitory during the admission period have priority to enter the dormitory
   by order of application. Availability of entrance will be individually notified during the
   registration period.

7. Orientation for Freshmen Students and Course Registration
There will be an orientation for freshmen international students and course registration at the end of
February.

8. Course Opening and Physical Check-up
2018 incoming students are required to undergo a physical checkup administered by Ewha Womans
University Health Service Center (slated for the beginning of each semester). If the student is found to
have an intractable disease or physical defect that may interfere with her academic performance, she
must comply with the university’s decision to take a leave of absence or to make other arrangements.

① The Ewha International Students Steering Committee may reduce or revoke the scholarship award

* Master’s program of Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse, Advanced Clinical
Nursing fields only open for the student who has at least 3 years clinical career.
* International students applying for Combined Master’s and Doctorate program in Medicine field can only
apply for majors in the field of basic medicine (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology,
Microbiology, Parasitology, Preventive Medicine, Medical Education, Neuroscience, Molecular Medicine, Public
Health, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Ethics)
* Medical Science field is a full time department for applicant who do not graduate from undergraduate-
medicine major(including medical school) and Basic medicine in Medicine field(from Anatomy to Medical Ethics in
Medicine field’s specialization) is for all applicants regardless of their previous academic background.
* ELTEC College of Engineering has received accreditation from Accreditation Board for Engineering Education
of Korea(ABEEK) for each undergraduate and graduate majors in the college and the division of Architecture
earned the five-year accreditation for its architectural education program. Thus, students in ELTEC College of
Engineering will automatically participate in the accreditation program when they enroll.
* College of Medicine has received six-year accreditation from Medical College Accreditation of Korean Institute
of Medical Education and Evaluation in 2014. The college has received extension for duration of the accreditation
until 2021 for its excellence in 2016 interim evaluation.
* College of Nursing has received accreditation by the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education for
undergraduate program. Thus, students in College of Nursing will automatically participate in the accreditation
program when they enroll.
