Ambiente e clima in H2020:
  votate allo sviluppo sostenibile.

  gas serra)

• energy efficiency ;
• renewable non-fossil energy (e.g. wind, solar, aero-thermal, geothermal, hydrothermal, ocean energy, hydropower, biomass, landfill gas, sewage
  treatment plant gas, biogases) & related infrastructure including energy storage and 'smart grids';

• eliminating or substantially reducing emissions of other greenhouse gases such as methane, N2O, PFCs, HFCs, SF6 & NF3;
• building resilience & reducing vulnerability to climate-related disasters (extreme weather events, etc.), covering any sector including transport,
  energy, supply chains, communication networks & other infrastructure; risk prevention & risk/disaster management, ICT for early warning
  systems;
• combating heat effects &/or adapting to drought, including water efficiency measures;
• integrating climate change concerns in specific policy activities, strengthening the regulatory & policy framework;
• socioeconomic issues, such as behavioural patterns, societal acceptance & barriers to uptake of policies or technologies;

Che cosa si intende per sviluppo sostenibile?
                      Efficienza delle risorse

• Sviluppo sostenibile significa migliorare l’efficienza delle risorse, come
  secondo i SDG.

 • making consumption & production in all areas of society/the economy more resource-efficient;
 • improving waste management; increasing re-use, repair or recycling; using waste from some production processes as a resource in others in all
   sectors;
 • ensuring the provision of clean water; promoting efficient & economical water supply & use; helping reduce water shortages, droughts & floods;
 • improving air quality & reducing air pollution; tackling the effects of air pollution;
 • protecting the soil; reducing soil-sealing; tackling or helping to prevent erosion, landslides, soil contamination, salinisation & desertification;

• Topic SC1-BHC-36-2020 - Micro- and nano-plastics in our
   environment: Understanding exposures and impacts on human
   health

       29/11/2017                                                       11
SC1-BHC-36-2020 - Micro- and nano-plastics in our environment:
    Understanding exposures and impacts on human health
• Challenge: The plastic we produce is not disposed of properly and persists in the environment,
  especially the marine environment. The debris is filtered into marine species’ gastrointestinal
  tract mechanically or it may look like food to some species, thus entering the food chain, with
  unknown effects. Humans are exposed to micro- and nano-plastics through their diet, drinking
  water or inhalation. However, our understanding of the fate and toxicity of these plastic particles
  in humans constitutes a major knowledge gap, rendering it difficult to carry out proper science-
  based risk assessment and management.
• Scope: Proposals should use innovative approaches to provide policy relevant scientific data in
  support of improved human health hazard and risk assessment of micro and/or nanoplastics,
  considering inter alia:
    • Environmental/food/water sources for micro- and/or nano-plastics and transmission to humans;
    • Methods for identification and quantification of micro and/or nano-plastics in foods, environmental media and
      tissues;
    • Microbial colonisation of m;icro- and/or nano-plastics as vectors for potential pathogens;

  digital service platforms

     29/11/2017                                                13
DT-ICT-09-2020: Boost rural economies through cross-sector digital
 service platforms
• Challenge: Rural areas are key to solve many of the big societal challenges such as climate change
  or the sustainable provision of food, biomass and energy. European rural areas are places of great
  assets and they can become more attractive if the provision of jobs, basic services, including
  health and care, connectivity, smart transport, and energy solutions, ecc. are ensured.
  Overcoming the digital divide between rural and urban areas and developing the potential
  offered by increased connectivity and digitisation of rural areas must receive particular
  attention.
• Scope: Proposals are expected to develop and demonstrate cost-efficient and flexible
  crossdomain applications through large-scale pilots. These should build on an open, API-based,
  interoperable and federated IoT architecture and include a reference implementation supporting
  flexible integration of heterogeneous services.
    • Potential application areas could include one or more of the following: public services, energy, autonomous robotics
      transport, logistics, education, tourism, health and care. The applications should support the implementation of the
      smart villages concept oriented towards relatively underdeveloped and remotely located rural areas and
      communities. Innovative and technical inspiration could be sought in previous work in the following domains: smart
      cities, smart living and ageing well, smart - and/or social farming, forest management, distributed energy, smart
      logistics and mobility and egovernance.

FETPROACT-EIC-08-2020: Environmental Intelligence [EIC Pathfinder]
• Challenge: Stimulate the emergence in Europe around the emerging paradigm of
  environmental intelligence
• Scope: Two complementary sub-topics:
    • new techniques for creating and using dynamic models of environmental evolution
      that combine, analyse and interpret data provided by in-situ sensing technologies
      with satellite remote sensing/earth observation and other environmental data
      sources, including human behaviour and gender differences, and economics and
      social sciences.
    • radically novel approaches to resilient, reliable and environmentally responsible in-
      situ monitoring In-situ sensing technologies (physical, chemical, biological,
      behavioural) for environmental monitoring, in particular favouring sensors for
      parameters and environments that are currently under-sampled but at the same
      time critical for improving predictive models for understanding environmental
      processes.
