Federal College of Education organized one week training workshop for Educational
Managers of Gilgit Baltistan in collaboration with Academy of Educational Planning
and Management (AEPAM), Ministry of Federal Education and Professional
Training and DFEC Project. In first phase training workshop was conducted from
March 09-13,2021 in Gilgit, Hunza Nagar, Ghizar, Diamer and Skardu. In the second
phase from March 16-20,2021, the educational leaders of Ghanche, Shigar,
Kharmang and Astore were engaged. There were 30 participants at each center
including district level educational mangers, DDOs and principals. The main topics
were Financial Management, Staff Performance Appraisal & Assessment, School
Development Plan, Time Management, Internal & External Audit Procedures,
Performance Evaluation Reports, Human Resource Management, Educational
Planning, Public Procurement Rules, Budget, and Individual & Institutional
Development. A team from Federal College of Education including Prof. Dr. Samia Rehman (Director FCE) focal
person for the training workshop, Dr. Mian Hamid Hassan (Associate Professor), coordinator and Mr. Tahir
Mehmood (Assistant Professor) managed the training workshop and addressed the participants.

FCE recognizes extended cooperation of Majeed Khan, DG Education GB, Abdul Hakeem (Director) focal person
for Gilgit and Syed Nabi Buksh to make this workshop very effective and successful. We also extend our
appreciation for the amazing work done by deputy focal persons Muhammad Hassan Danish, Mr. Sajjad Khan, and
Mr. Abdul Wahab.

 Spring Plantation Activity “Green FCE”
 One week Spring Plantation activity under the title of Green FCE
 was organized and coordinated by Director FCE. Saplings of
 different species were planted by students and faculty with the
 collaboration of CDA Horticulture department and faculty
 members. Director FCE, Prof. Dr. Samia Rehman Dogar formally
 inaugurated the Spring Plantation Activity. On this occasion she
 said that everyone should deliver a message of making the
 environment green and clean by planting a tree.

 Indoor Gymnasium: A Striking Feature

 Health and physical fitness are a prerequisite for a sound mind and academic
 excellence. An Indoor Gym was inaugurated in the College New Hostel on March
 12th. On this occasion, students and faculty expressed heart felt gratitude to Prof.
 Dr. Samia Rehman Dogar (Director FCE) for providing this long-awaited facility.
 Separate timings are scheduled for male and female students. College Sports
 Officer highlighted the features of the Gym. Best effort has been made by engaging
 user friendly tools. The inauguration of the Gym shows FCE’s strong determination
 to promote sports culture on campus.

Mr. Ajmal Khan’s Message on the Occasion of his Superannuation
Spending 31 years in this prestigious institution as Associate
Professor, where I tried my best to give my utmost possible efforts
as a teacher as well as an administrator, I have finally bid a farewell
with heavy heart as my retirement has been officially declared.
The world is moving ahead at a tremendous pace and it is moral
obligation to take those along us who deserve nothing but 'the
best'. I am proud of FCE for giving me honour and prestige. FCE is
a center of excellence and I expect it to emerge as a great
educational institution.

Guest Speaker’s talk on Role of United Nations

                                 To help better prepare our students for real-world issues and deliver unrivaled
                                 market relevance, FCE hosts a variety of guest speakers Lecture Series –
                                 “Leading Out Loud”. As part of this feature, Mr. Muhammad Usman Dogar,
                                 Political Advisor in UN , spoke on the role of United Nations, its structure, and
                                 how to get a career in UN as a civil servent. He highlighted the achievements of
                                 the UN: peace keeping in different parts of world, environmental protection and
                                 saving lives of millions of children by eradicating diseases. His thought-
                                 provoking interaction with participants was followed by intriguing and relevant
                                 questions.

Orientation of Newly Inducted Supporting Staff

Recently 20 members of supporting staff have been selected against
various posts. Director FCE and other senior staff welcomed them. To
make them familiar with FCE family, an orientation session was
conducted. The newly appointed supporting staff was oriented with
rules and regulations, traditions and practices and working
environment of the college. The newly inducted staff was overjoyed
with the warm welcome and friendly interaction with Director and
staff.

Inauguration of Counselling Center

To enable students to cope with educational, emotional, and vocational challenges, a counselling center has been
established in FCE under supervision of Mrs. Naina Syed (Associate Professor of Psychology). Students are
expected to grab knowledge on emerging specializations in education, national and international scholarships,
and carrier opportunities. Along with expertise of the faculty, services of renowned experts of the field will also
be hired. A detailed mechanism has been developed to facilitate the students.

Seminar on Positive parenting in ECCE
                                                        As a part of ongoing process of capacity building of FCE
                                                        Faculty, a seminar was conducted on “Positive Parenting
                                                        in ECCE” in collaboration with Pakistan Alliance for
                                                        Early Childhood (PAFEC). Key topics discussed were
                                                        Early Childhood Education, development domains,
                                                        parenting, parenting styles and positive parenting. PAFEC
                                                        is working with public and private universities and
                                                        institutions to review and update the existing courses of
                                                        Early Childhood Development (ECD).

Digitization of Library
The drift from off-line to on-line resources has come about as a gradual
change. Modern information & communication technologies are becoming
an increasingly flexible medium for delivering and retrieving information.
To promote this initiative, Federal College of Education is proud to
announce that it has been linked with HEC digital library. After a persistent
effort FCE library has been designed and developed so that it covers the
maximum amount of information and content about the resources being
offered by the Digital Library Program.

Sightsavers International and FCE sign LoU for
Development of Inclusive Education
On March 16, 2021, Federal College of Education and Sightsavers
International (Pakistan) signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) to affirm
their commitment to jointly collaborate and promote Inclusive Education.
This LoU is expected to focus on the development of joint activities
targeted at building capacity of FCE Faculty and content for teacher
education/training Programs. The LoU further underpins the opportunities
between the two institutions to collectively mobilize expertise, resources
and experiences to promote inclusive education through innovative
approaches.
